In Rukungiri—

Police in Rukungiri are investigating the cause of an accident which killed one person along Ntungamo Rukungiri high way.

The deceased Godwin Byamukama 22 year old lumberer is resident of Nyakihanga village  Kazi diro parish Bugangari sub county Rukungiri district

Kigezi Regional police Spokesperson Elly Maate said that the accident which occurred yesterday evening at around 8:00pm left two people in bad conditions while another one died while being taken for treatment at Nyakibale hospital.

The accident involved a motor vehicle reg. no. UBF 130Z Toyota hiace driven by unknown driver who took off after the accident and a motorcycle reg. no. UEP550M Bajaj boxer red in color ridden

Senior Journalist Ambrose Kweronda who was a passenger in the vehicle told www.mknewslink.com that the motorcyclist was going to cross the road at a high speed only to collide with a vehicle which was also running at a high speed.

Police were notified, visited the scene and the body was taken to Rwakabengo health center for postmortem as inquiries to ascertain the likely cause are being made.

In Rukungiri—

 Police in Rukungiri have in custody a 36 year old man for allegedly cutting off private parts of a two and half year-old girl.

The suspect Yoonah Karigye is a resident of Kalinga village Rwakirungura parish Buyanja Sub County in Rukungiri district.

Kigezi region police mouthpiece told journalists that Esther Oreeba a resident of the same area had gone to borrow an axe from the home of late Alex Nahurira when she saw the suspect who is a worker at the home pulling a young girl with hanging private parts and intestines.

Oreeba who had identified the young girl rushed to the mother who told her (Oreeba) that the girl Maryscent Kagirl had disappeared from her home in the morning.

According to Maate, the area LCI chairperson Benon Musasizi gathered residents who arrested Karigye and handed him to Buyanja police station.

Maate said that the victim was picked from an isolated banana plantation at a distance from the suspect’s home and taken to Karoli Lwanga Referral Hospital Nyakibale and later to Mbarara Regional referral hospital.

In Kazo—

Police in Kazo district are investigating circumstances under which a woman died in her house.

The deceased Alice Namatovu 45 years a resident of Magondo Parish,Burunga Subcounty in  Kazo district was staying alone in a merchandise shop by the time of her death.

Harriet Namubiru the neighbor of the deceased told www.mknewslink.com that she had the deceased on Saturday evening looking healthy and was surprised to hear about her demise the next day.

Lawrence Bamuhimbisa the LCI chairman Magondo cell, Burunga Sub County said that the deceased was healthy and tasked the security teams to investigate the matter and come up with what could have led to her death.

Kazo police led by CID ASP Frank Arinaitwe intervened into the matter and took the body of the deceased for a postmortem at Kazo Health centre IV before they could hand it over to the relatives for a decent burial.

In Sheema—

Police at Sheema Central prison have in detention two men on charges of circulating counterfeit money.

The two suspects have been identified by the area RDC Frank Besigye Kyerere as Umar Kibuye 45 years a resident of Bwizibwera and December Turyatunga 37 years  a resident of Kolanorya both in Mbarara city.

Kyerere told journalists that the two were arrested by police on the 22nd.Oct.2021 in Kabwohe after they had circulated counterfeit notes of 900.000 shillings to different people.

The president’s representative said that the suspects had counterfeit money totaling to 2,100,000 shillings.

In his defense one of the suspects Umar Kibuye told journalists that he has been earning a living off circulating counterfeit notes.

Frank Kyerere is now appealing to the general public to be vigilant when handling money as people with ill intentions will use this chance as the year is ending to execute their evil.

In Mbarara—

One person has been reported dead in the fire that burnt timber workshops in Mbarara yesterday morning.

Sam Sonko aged around 18 years a casual worker at the workshops located on Mbaguta Street was burnt beyond recognition.

According to Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi region police spokesperson, Preliminary police investigations indicate that on 25th October 2021 at around 3:28am, Gilbert Awuyo a private guard attached to grade one security services Ltd was patrolling the lower Bus park gate and he saw a lot of smoke from the timber workshops.

He immediately reported the incident to Mbarara Bus park police post and Rwizi Regional fire team rushed to the scene but failed to contain the fire.

They called for re-enforcement from Bushenyi fire station, Ministry of works and other private fire personnel who responded immediately to put the fire out.
Kasasira told journalists that it was later established that 23 timber workshops, one Motor cycle and a motor vehicle registration UAQ 002J Harrier were all burnt to ashes.

The Rwizi region police spokesperson noted the cause of fire is yet to be established .

In Kisoro—

Police in Kisoro district is investigating circumstances under which a man was killed by mob in Burihira village in Nyakinama sub-county.

According to the area village Chairperson Vallenge Igraguha, the deceased is Wilber Bizimana (40) a resident of Bifunfu village, Rwaramba parish Nyakinama sub-county Kisoro district.

Iraguha said that the deceased who was armed with a sharp panga reportedly trespassed in the compound of Mary Nyiramikyo before the husband bumped into him and invited neighbors for rescue who immediately pounced on him.

Bizimana who was until yesterday a prominent thief according to locals was beaten up to when he breathed his last.

Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate told www.mknewslink.com  that the police visited the scene and picked the body for a postmortem as investigations into the matter continue.

Maate also urged locals to desist from mob justice saying that they should always work closely with authorities to sort such issues.
