In Kanungu—–

Authorities in Kanungu district have resolved to terminate a contract earlier given to Kaleta Construction Company to construct a structure at Ntungamo health Centre III.

Leaders that included Kinkizi West MP James Kaberuka, Kanungu District Chairperson Eng. Sam Kajojo and the RDC Hajji Shafiq Sekandi Sengooba were yesterday shocked to discover that the site had been abandoned; no materials neither workers were present and entirely no activity was going on at site for Ntugamo health Centre III.

The district leaders paid an impromptu visit to the site to follow up on orders issued last month to the contractor, Kaleta Construction Company, to demolish a structure that was already at the beam level because of shoddy work he had produced.

The district chairperson Eng. Sam Kajojo said that the contract should be terminated so that another competent company can take over to complete the work.

The RDC Hajji Shafiq Sekandi Sengooba said the district is going to begin the process of terminating the current contract since the contractor has abandoned the site yet locals are waiting to use their health unit.

He also added that the contractor will be forced to refund the money advanced by the district because there is no work done.

The Kinkizi west legislator Hon. James Ruugi Kaberuka said he sensed the lack of seriousness of the contractor on the groundbreaking function when the company owner failed to show up.

He further urged the government to change its policy of advancing funds to contractors but rather pay on presentation of certificates of completion by the contractors

In Fort Portal—

Another Boda Boda Rider who went missing in Harugongo has been found dead.

According to Kisembo Joseph a resident and one who was behind the search, the lifeless body of Wilson Kasangaki a resident of Buzinda Harugongo Sub County was discovered in Sebitoli Forest Busoro Sub County yesterday morning.

Kasangaki who was riding a motorcycle Reg. No. UFB 511L and staging at Post office stage around Mpanga market in central division Fort portal city went missing on Tuesday last week after he was hired by unknown customers.

Kisembo told www.mknewslink.com that the body is now at Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital mortuary and his motorcycle couldn’t be found.

This is the second person to be killed on the same stage in a week; another boda boda rider of the same stage was killed and body dumped in Sebitoli Forest over the weekend.

In Kisoro—

Police in Kisoro district are holding a 40 year old primary teacher for allegedly strangling a man to death.

The suspect Baker Hagena is a primary teacher at Malegamo primary school in Kisoro district.

It is alleged that Baker a resident of Buyora village North Ward Chahafi Town council strangled Joseph Gakara 65 years and dumped his body in a pond in Chibumba village North Ward Chahafi Town council Kisoro district.

According to the Kisoro District OCCID Elias Balika, the lifeless body of Gakara was on 12 October 2021 found floating on water.

By press time the suspect was still at police having a statement at Kisoro central police station.

In Masindi—

The impeachment of Cosmas Byaruhanga the Masindi district chairperson has landed on the fertile ground after council resolved on the process to kick him out of office.

In September this year, Hon. Issa Balinda Umar the Male Councilor for Masindi Central Division asked Hon. Moses Kirya the district Speaker to table the motion of impeaching Cosmas Byaruhanga the Masindi District Chairperson.

Kirya allowed Balinda and asked him to gather enough evidence, and at the same time addressed a letter to Byaruhanga to defend himself on why he should not be impeached or voluntary resign from the office.

Following the yesterday’s hot council sitting at the district chambers, Balinda  tabled the motion, and told the house that the district chairperson is incompetent ,doesn’t monitor government programs, and commissions shoddy work like those recently unearthed by minister Peter Ogwang.

The councilor also said that Byaruhanga doesn’t sit in his office since his swearing in noting that he has tried meeting him many times in the office, but in vain.

He also asked for the camera footage between 20 May and 23rd September to be released for evidence.

However, some councilors accused the district chairperson of threatening them through audio clips with arrest if they don’t withdraw motion of impeaching him.

In his response, Cosmas Byaruhanga the Masindi district chairperson refuted the claims of Hon. Issa Balinda Umar saying that the context inputs, and representation of Issa’s letter are both false since he has been executing his duties.

“I have never received or missed any call from Balinda, and he has never registered in the visitors’ book in my office, or have I ever got any formal letter from him,”Byaruhanga asserted.

Byaruhanga also denied the audio clip which was played before the council saying that due to the advanced technology, there is need to investigate the recording since he has never spoken such words.

Other councilors asked the district chairperson to apologize before the council on grounds that they need each other instead of fighting or insulting the colleagues.

“We need to deliver service to our people, instead of fighting each other,” they asserted.

In Ntungamo—-

Police in Ntungamo are holding three health workers for selling COVID 19 vaccines and two officials from the procurement office over theft of laptops and other office gadgets.

The three health workers whose names are withheld not to jeopardize the investigations were picked from Rubaare health Centre IV Rubaare town council on allegations that they stole COVID 19 vaccines and sold them to the public.

The Resident District Commissioner RDC David Kaboyo told www.mknewslink.com that investigations in the two matters are ongoing.

The district chairman Samuel Mucunguzi Rwakigoba   noted that this is not the first time the district properties have been stolen; In Itojo a grounded health car was stolen.

He added that they decided to apprehend the two officials from the procurement office after the theft of the gadgets since their office has been in a fraud scandal.

Meanwhile, the three health workers are expected to appear before court today at Ntungamo court in Ntungamo district.
