Activists born from Kyamuhunga town council led by Andy Yellow have raised a red flag against the Engineer and chairman LCIII Musa Bikanya for being corrupt.

www.mknewslink.com managing editor met Andy yellow carrying a receipt of 2.8 million without an official stamp which is an evidence of stealing money at the town council.

The money in question was meant to build a kiosk at Mashonga trading Centre in Kyamuhunga town council.

According to the town clerk Kyamuhunga Gilbert Boona, the town council received 2.8 million from a person who wanted a kiosk in Mashonga but Gilbert Boona ordered the accountant to give the money back to the trader since it was not allowed as per local government laws.

He said that he was against the decision by the council to allocate the place in question at Mashonga for commercial purpose but rather preferred it as a green belt.

The town clerk added that on the issue of finances getting misused in Kyamuhunga town council especially the Mashonga Kiosks, tarmac road in Butaare among other projects, the head of internal audit Samuel Kumwesiga is already doing an special audit for Kyamuhunga town council which will lead to the next action; whether to push the civil servants or clear them.

According to the LCIII chairman Musa Bikanya, they have abandoned the council resolution to build kiosks at Mashinga trading Centre instead they have agreed to turn the place into a green belt as suggested by the town clerk.

www.mknewslink.com visited the head of internal audit Samuel Kumwesiga and he was told that he is doing a special audit on Kyamuhunga town council and he will produce a report in three weeks’ time.

Samuel Kumwesiga is known for producing professional audit reports; his recent special audit report pinned the former municipal treasurer Jackson Muhwezi Beyendenza who had forged signatures of his bosses and colleagues to steal public money.

He was retired in public interest after anti- corruption court convicted him and asked him to pay back over 200 million shillings.

In Kampala—

When computers started being imported into Uganda in late 1990, I think the government gave a window period to all civil servants to go and study computer basics, those who failed to comply most probably were either retired or laid off, and the new breed of graduates took over.

The same scenario is happening to Kololo SSS who have been borrowing a playground from the government since 1950 but have failed to develop it to suit the current development of the city. It is very absurd to have a bushy football pitch that is not only an area for harboring crime people but also a breeding ground for rodents!!

According to the trending NBS TV video clip, the investor – Rajiv Ruparelia who is the proprietor of Kampala parents school alleges that some elements from Kololo SSS, moreover a public school misuse the poor vulnerable people from the nearby community to cause violence in a bid to destruct the development of the playground which is a public good.

It defeats logic to learn that an investor who has decided to put aside resources to construct a one-stop center stadium with the volleyball, basketball, football pitch, and a conference centre is being frustrated by an institution through employing services of hooliganism which dents the reputation of a school which is supposed to groom law-abiding citizens who value investors that employ youths who have finished school.

We believe that when the stadium is complete, it will employ not less than 20 youths.

Just for reference, before Ham Kiggundu took over Nakivubo memorial stadium, the future of the stadium could not be predicted as it was a den of idol people who commit heinous crimes to Kampala workers, but through Public-private partnership (PPP), the National Council of Sports through Ministry of education decided to lease the wrecked stadium to an eligible investor of which sooner than later, we shall have a befitting facility. In the same spirit, the owner of Kampala Parents should be given space since they have legit and legal documents for the disputed space.

In a nutshell, therefore, I request the ministry of education officials to prevail over and teach those bad people at Kololo School about how PPP can help government to cause economic development as government commits its resources to other priority areas.

As a poor youth, I feel saddened when an investor is crying foul yet they just choose to invest their money here in Uganda so that our lives can be better through job creation.

Kisoro deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Dan Ndikumwami has clarified that Security is not involved in forcing people to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

Ndikumwami explained that Security alongside health officials have simply doubled their efforts in sensitizing the public towards the importance of getting vaccinated.

The response followed growing concerns from the public through social media platforms, that security has been using force against people who are found in public areas without a Covid-19 Vaccination client card.

The same complaints have also been raised at Kanaba border where people entering the district are allegedly forced to get vaccinated, against their will.

Ndikumwami, during a phone interview explained that there are some elements in the public who are always determined to undermine the good efforts of Government.

“We are aware that some people have decided to tarnish the Government efforts by spreading false information that has now put the public on edge. We have a file on these people and we are closely monitoring them,” Ndikumwami said.

He further noted that while Covid-19 vaccination is not mandatory, the public is highly encouraged to embrace it.

According to the RDC, the weeklong Vaccination campaign that was concluded recently managed to cover 80% of the targeted population.

“The public is responding positively and we believe that our district will be open for business,” Ndikumwami said.

Rukungiri district Chief Administrative Officer CAO Elias Byamungu has appealed to the district council to seek an emergency budget from the central government for replacing Kanyamugoro Bridge and Kiborogota Bridges.

The two bridges both in Nyakishenyi Sub County Rukungiri district that were destroyed by floods.

Kanyamugoro Bridge connects Marashaniro Cell and Butare cell in Nyarugando Parish whereas Kiborogota Bridge is found in Burambira Parish.

A concerned resident Marius Bataringaya, revealed that Kanyamugoro Bridge was washed away by rain water in September 2021; residents engaged their Chairperson LC3 Twinomujuni Wednesday and area councilors to establish a temporary bridge made up of timber which they describe as risky.

Byamungu revealed that he received concern from the Area MP Namanya Naboth and conducted an assessment tour together with district secretary for finance Susan Abinsinguza and resolved to advocate for urgent intervention.

He further commended farmers in Nyakishenyi Sub County for being environmentally aware as he observed space reserved on the banks of water bodies and species of trees that consume less water.

The Area Member of Parliament Hon Naboth Namanya revealed that he forwarded the issue of the destroyed bridges to Uganda Road fund and was told to wait for the next Quarter’s release of funds

In Rukungiri—

Residents of Nyarubira Kabingo Buhunga Subcounty Rukungiri district are still in shock after a teenager in their area committed suicide.

The deceased has been identified as Allan Ashaba, a son to Asiimwe Bernard, a livestock trader in the area.

Ashaba’s body was found dangling on a rope on Sunday morning to the shock of his parents and residents.

The cause of his action is still unknown, as his father narrates that he recently completed S4 and his mother had just sent him on an errand in the nearby shops only for him to disappear.

Police from Buhunga police post were called in, post mortem done and the body handed over to relatives for burial.

Inquiries are ongoing to establish what forced the young man to commit suicide.
