In Kigezi—

Kabale and Rukiga District residents have credited NRM party for its high level of corruption.

Speaking to our reporter in town, the residents termed NRM’s 36 year of Anniversary as years of Dictatorship, corruption and Embezzlement of Government funds.

Wilkins Arinaitwe the chairperson UPC Kabale district said the Ruling party stole guns from UPC and started using them to rob people’s Property.

He added, it’s so unfortunate that those that started with the 10points program the party is slowly weeding them out.

“I remember one time during Election campaign, Ruhakana Rugunda told people that we have people from Government and those from Govermenta,’’ Wilkins noted.

Wilkins added that it’s absurd to find Kabale Municipality doesn’t have any single Health center 3 and there is no referral hospital which was constructed under this regime.

Wilkens said that if one is to make research among the big people including the MPs, none have their children in Government schools.

“NRM Government brought USE and UPE, Why is it that parents and Teachers are not taking their children to these schools? It means something is wrong in these schools,” he added.

He said the Party can’t do anything until the community stages a strike giving an example of Kabale- Kisoro road, Kabale Municipality Roads which were worked on after the Authorities threatened to stage a demonstration.

He added that a lot of Radio stations have been closed in Kabale (voice of Kigezi when it hosted Mugisha Muntu and Hope Radio when it Hosted DR Kiiza Besigye) and that Two Radio Presenters have been forced to exit Kabale.

Hamuza Jungu Mechanic in Kabale Garage Street said those to celebrate the NRM anniversary are those that started with the President.

Hamuza pinned the NRM Government for not following up its project on the potential beneficiaries.

He asked why the NRM Government project has continued fading and no action is being done.

Hamuza said that NRM Party is now Fully Occupied with the Mafias who have practiced a high level of corruption and Embezzlement of Government funds.

The Kabale District vice chairperson Ms. Miria Akakwansa Tugume  who doubles as the  councilor LCV for Kahugye and Butanda  Sub Counties applauded the 36 years of anniversary as years of empowering women in the county.

She added, women nowadays occupy big offices and give in their opinions and views unlike in the past where they were always in their homes cooking for their Husbands and not allowed to participate in any communal activity.

The Rukiga District LCV Chairperson Robert Mbabazi Kakwerere said that the NRM Government has fulfilled the 10 points programme.

He added, the ruling party has brought democracy and now people are free to elect their own leaders.

Kakwerere said the NRM part has constructed schools, Hospitals and Roads unlike in the past where it was difficult to get one who was educated.

He however called upon the Government to establish Electricity in Kamwezi Sub County.

In Rukiga—

Police in Rukiga are investigating the circumstances under which 20 year old S.6 vacist committed suicide.

Elly Maate the Kigezi region police mouthpiece identified the deceased as Yafesi Twikirize aged 20years a resident of Kinanura village,Noozi parish, Rwamucucu sub County Rukiga District.

It’s alleged that the deceased completed S.6 and hoped to have proceeded to the University.

However, the parents informed him that they lacked money for school fees to the university but could only afford sending him to a technical school, which angered him.

On 27/01/2022 at around 0600hrs, he was found hanging on a tree about 05meters away from their house.

Police visited the Scene and the body was examined before it was handed over to the parents for burial.

The case was registered at Rukiga Police Station under reference number CRB 051/2022 to help in investigations.

In Sheema—-

Sheema district which is known for its name “Sheema Neyagayaga” literally translated as Sheema shines has been hit hard by Jiggers.

According to the reports coming from Sheema District, over 80 households in the district have already been affected by Jiggers with the most hard hit area being Bwayegamba.

Getrude Baziraaka a Resident of Bwayegamba told www.mknewslink.com that most of the school going Children in the area have already been infected with Jiggers.

Enos Kahaafu a Resident whose family is infected with Jiggers noted that they have tried their level best to fight Jiggers through spraying their houses but instead Jiggers have intensified.

Evans Ngasiirwe a victim also said that Government should build for him a good house since his current house is in dilapidated state which he thinks it’s a breeding area for Jiggers.

Isaac Arinatwe the LCI chairman Kikuto village said  that over 10 households in his area have already been affected and also in the nearest villages of Kiyungu west and Nyakwehundika have already been infected.

In Mbarara—

7 more primary schools in Mbarara district have closed over exorbitant bank loans.

Gabriel Ahimbisibwe the Mbarara District Education Officer identified the schools as Kashaka Moslem primary school,Ruyonza primary school ,Bukiro community primary school,Rubaya Standard primary school,  Bubaare parents primary school, Bukiro Destiny primary school and Bwizibwera standard primary school all  private schools.

Ahimbisibwe said that the proprietors of the mentioned schools ran bankrupt and others had loans to clear in banks while others failed to pay teachers arrears.

He however added that they have advised the parents of the affected learners to enroll them in the available government Schools.

The DEO further noted that all the Government schools are all operational and the turn up of the learners is high especially in the lower primary.

On the issue of COVID 19 , Ahimbisibwe noted that they are still finding it hard to follow COVID 19 SOPs like social distance given the huge number of learners

Relatedly, the educationist said that they will root for a supplementary budget to cater for schools that were hit hard by Environmental catastrophes like Rubindi girls where wind blew off the roof and Rwansinga Primary school.

He said that they will construct two class room blocks for the affected Schools.

In Kazo—

Police in Kazo District have in their custody a 30 year old man in connection to the gruesome murder of his three year old son.

Both the deceased and the suspect are residents of Buremba Central Cell, Kijooha Ward in Buremba Town Council.

The Rwizi Regional Police Spokesman Samson Kasasira has identified the suspect as Nuwahereza Tumuramye John, father to the late Mwesigye Johnson.

Kasasira told journalists in a press statement that the incident took place on Wednesday January 26th 2022 and was reported by the deceased’s grandmother Bahairaho Federesi.

Bahairaho intimated to Police that earlier in the day, Nuwahereza who is now a prime suspect requested to go to collect maize with the deceased and another 4 year old juvenile but while the suspect and Vivian returned home, the deceased was nowhere to be seen.

The grandmother narrated that knowing that the father (now suspect) had seasonal mental illness, she decided to go and search for her grandson in the garden where she found him staggering while bleeding from the neck.

The grandmother found the Mwesigye in the garden with a deep cut on the neck bleeding and rushed him to nearby clinic where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Kasasira said that the body of the deceased was taken to Kazo Health Center IV Mortuary for postmortem and the father was arrested to help in investigations.

The case was registered at Kazo Central Police Station under reference number CRB 114/2022 to help in investigations.
