In Bushenyi—
The Uganda’s Deputy Head of Mission to European Union and Benelux countries Ambassador Franklin Katungwe has described the late lay can. Yowas Makaru as an incorruptible leader who worked very hard to develop greater Bushenyi
Amb. Katungwe said this today afternoon in a telephone interview with www.mknewslink.com managing editor.
He noted that he met the late Makaru at the prime minister’s office in Kampala and they discussed a lot about greater Bushenyi.
The ambassador revealed that in the discussion, can. Makaru was more concerned with commercialized politics in Uganda and greater Bushenyi in particular arguing that money was producing substandard leaders in the region.
He added that commercialization of politics has replaced individual merit whereby leaders would be elected according to their capacity and education rather than who has much money.
Katungwe noted that Can. Makaru who was also a senior presidential advisor was a very much committed Anglican Christian who attained a title of Lay Canon the highest rank in the church.
According to a tentative burial program, Makaru is expected to be laid to rest on Saturday at his home in Mikyerere Sheema district.
