MINISTER KASOLO WANTS EMYOOGA MONEY DEFAULTERS EXPOSED IN MEDIA

The Minister of State Microfinance and Small Enterprises Haruna Kasolo Kyeyune has given emyooga funds defaulters an ultimatum of three days to pay back or they face shame through the media.
The minister made the remarks yesterday while monitoring and evaluating emyooga SACCO groups in Bushenyi district that received money from the government through the micro finance support center and the office of the president.
He noted that shaming defaulters on radios, televisions, newspapers and other media platforms will be one of the ways to recover the funds from defaulters who do not wish the program well.
He added that those who will not heed to the media shame and go on without paying will be arrested to only to be released when they pay.
He directed district and municipal Commercial officers to compile all names and address of the defaulters with their phone numbers and submit to media houses for publication and broadcast.
Meanwhile, Annet Katusiime Mugisha the Bushenyi district woman Member of Parliament has asked the government to revise the guidelines governing emyooga funds as beneficiaries are given limited time to pay off their loans.
