Willis Bashaasha has retained his seat the hotly contested head of laity that was climaxed today evening at the diocesan headquarters in Bweranyangi.

Willis Bashaasha scored 100 votes whereas his closest challenger Pison Mugizi scored 64 followed by Arthur Babu with 38 and Wilfred Katobe 23.

In his victory speech, he called upon his challengers to come together and build the diocese stronger.

Willis Bashaasha wondered why the head of laity elections in West Ankole diocese are highly amplified compared to other dioceses.

In Sheema—

Kigarama seed Secondary School in Sheema district has been commissioned despite the uncompleted playground, lack of enough water and no electricity.

The school was commissioned by the government Chief Whip Thomas Tayebwa yesterday 11^th March 2022.

Tayebwa toured the school but found the contractors didn’t put the playground to its standard and ordered them to re do it.

He revealed that they are going to look for immediate solution to lack of water and electricity at the school.

Sheema District Chief Administrative Officer John Betungura told www.mknewslink.com that the 2.3 billion shillings project will see to the construction of two classroom blocks, laboratory, library, Administration block, staff quarters, kitchen, Toilets, computer science lab, and multipurpose hall.

He thanked the leaders of Kigarama church who gave out the land where the school was built.

Rosemary Nyakikongoro the Sheema District woman MP stressed that this will help students from walking long distances looking for better education.

In her message read by Tayebwa, the education Minister Janet Kataha Museveni congratulated Kigarama community upon getting a seed school.

She asked the school administration to ensure its maintenance and good functioning of all the facilities in order to serve their intended purposes.

Kigarama seed school has an enrollment of 65 students; 38 girls and 27 boys, according to the head teacher George Bafaki .

The Bishop of West Ankole diocese Johnson Twinomujuni has warned head of laity ship contestants to stop the commercialization of elections with immediate effect.

He said this in an exclusive interview with www.mknewslink.com managing editor after a church service. The service was a precursor to the inauguration of the synod and hotly contested election of the head of laity.

The Bishop was extremely busy after concluding a service and was heading for the inauguration of the synod thus couldn’t give www.mknewslink.com more time.

He warned all the four candidates; Willis Bashaasha, Pison Mugizi, Wilfred Katobe, and Arthur Babu Muguzi to stop using money in head of laity ship elections.

In Kisoro—

Police in Kisoro are hunting for a male suspect who allegedly assaulted a 14 year old boy to death.

Kigezi Regional police spokesperson Elly Maate identified the deceased as Ndagijwenawe Alias Kashopingi a Rwandan national ,porter and resident of Gishita cell Gasovu parish Nyarusiza sub county Kisoro.

Maate told www.mknewslink.com that it is allegedly that on 10/03/2022 at around 1900hrs the deceased was grazing cattle of his master one Safari Martin, in his master’s land when the suspect as Enock Mcwamanza drove his cows to the same land which the victim disputed.

It is also alleged that this angered Enock who hit the deceased with a stick twice on the side head.

Maate told journalists that the deceased was rushed to Nyarusiza health Center 111 for medication and went back home, till the 11/03/2022 when his health deteriorated and was rushed to Kisoro hospital where he passed on moments later.

Police were notified by Safari, scene was visited and documented, postmortem was conducted and now pending deportation of the body to Rwanda by his relatives for a decent burial.

Suspect is still on the run and efforts to trace him are being made so that is brought to book and charged accordingly

The case of sudden murder was registered at Kisoro central Police Station under reference number CRB.150/2022
