BISHOP BAGAMUHUNDA ORDAINS 5 DEACONS
The Bishop of the diocese of Kigezi the Rt Rev George Bagamuhunda has today ordained five deacons into priesthood in a service that took place at St Peter’s Cathedral Rugarama in Kabale municipality.
The ordained deacons are Ben Michael Kiiza, Ivan Byabagambi, Ambrose Sabiti, Baker Muhereza and Dickson Tukamushaba.
Bagamuhunda implored the ordained priests, deacons and lectors to preach the gospel of peace and repentance. He also asked them to avoid preaching a divisive gospel instead of development. He also asked the ordained deacons to follow the norms of the church in the service of God.
The ordination attracted the presence of five other retired and serving Bishops including, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigali the Rt Rev Nathan Amooti, the emeritus Bishop of Butare Rwanda Rt Rev Nathan Kamusiime Gasatura, the Northwest Ankole Bishop Rt Rev Amos Magezi, the emeritus Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi Rt Rev Dr William Rukirande and the Cyangugu Diocese of Rwanda Bishop the Rt Rev Francis Karemera.
Preaching during the service, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kampala the Rt Rev Hannington Mutebi asked the ordained deacons to exhibit humbleness, humility and preach the word of unity among the Christians to achieve transformation.
Speaking during the service, the state minister of Trade, cooperatives and industries David Bahati asked the ordained deacons to aim at being excellent and converting many people to Christianity through preaching the gospel. He also asked Christians to cooperate and encourage the ordained deacons in the service of God.
