An Indian business man was Monday evening murdered in Kasonga Guest House in Kyabitaka Village, Kasonga Parish in Kyangwali Sub-county, Kikuube District.
ASP Julius Allan Hakiza the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson identified the deceased Michael Sultan an Indian who was a resident of Hoima City. ”The deceased travelled to Kyangwali on Monday to supply his clients such items as salt, biscuits, sugar, cooking oil and soap among others.”
Hakiza told our reporter Wednesday morning that the deceased checked in the guest house at around 6pm but never woke up in the morning. ”This prompted the driver and the guest house manager to check, only finding him dead.”
The police mouthpiece asserted that they are suspecting the deceased to have been strangled by a rope.
He revealed that through their canine dog, they arrested the driver of the deceased identified as Moses Muvamuno and the guest house manager and they are in their custody at Kikuube central police station pending investigations.
The police mouthpiece asserted that they are still waiting for postmortem results.

Police in Rukungiri is investigating the circumstances under which a 57-year-old man went missing.

Elly Maate the Kigezi region Police spokesman has identified the victim as Mutabazi Sulaiman a businessman and resident of Omukagoro village Bwambara parish, Bwambara sub-county Rukungiri district.

Maate explains that the victim always visited the home of Mugisha Sulaiman 43   at Rwebinyonyi village, Rwenshama Parish, Bwambara Sub- County for witchcraft and had always been seen naked smoking a pipe “emindi” together with his host near the Muram road leading to the landing site.

On 19/04/2022 at around 2030hrs, the victim was seen entering the same place with his motorcycle and later was heard complaining and quarreling with Mugisha about the money he had spent but with no solution to his increasing problems.

Maate further explains that around 02:00hrs of 20/04/2022, two motorcycles were heard leaving the home and since then, the victim disappeared.

On 24/04/2022, one Kakuru Buseni reported the disappearance of his father at Rwenshama Police station and Cps Rukungiri was accordingly notified.

A team headed by the OC Station Rukungiri CPS IP Muhairwe Elias moved to the area and detained Mugisha Sulaiman the main suspect and his other family members namely; Kesande Shadia aged 25 years, Kyomugisha Emily aged 17 years, Barisigara Silvan aged 32 years and Mugisha Ramadhan aged 17 years all of Rwebinyonyi village.

The suspects were arrested as they tried to flee the village.

Matte says Interrogation is ongoing to ascertain the actual whereabouts of the victim.

Following the confirmed Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the health authorities in the Western Buliisa district have challenged the community members to be more vigilant and report any Ebola like symptoms to the nearest health centres.
Speaking to our reporter on Tuesday evening, Robert Mugabe the Buliisa District Health Educator explained that since the district borders the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the deadly disease is likely to spread  due to cross border movements.
Mugabe adds that communities should quickly alert the health workers when they come across someone with signs and symptoms of Ebola. Some of the Ebola signs and symptoms are high malaria, headache, diarrhea, unnecessary bleeding of blood in the body openings and others.
The health expert says they are to work hand in hand with the ministry of health so that they carry out thorough checking of people crossing at the entry points mostly in Butiaba and at Wanseko ferry terminal.
This comes after the health authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Saturday confirmed an outbreak of Ebola following the one death in Mbandaka, a city in the north-western Equateur Province.
The patient, a 31-year-old man, began experiencing symptoms on April 5 and after a week of care at home, sought treatment at a local health facility.
On 21 April, the patient was admitted to an Ebola treatment centre for intensive care but died later that day.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is experiencing its fourteenth Ebola outbreaks since 1976. The current outbreak is the sixth since 2018 alone – the most frequent occurrence in the country’s Ebola history.

MASINDI: Residents operating at Kirabo kya Kasigwa Market in Central Division Masindi Municipality Masindi district have abandoned the market over increased garbage.

The garbage has flooded almost half of the market. According to the business operators who spoke to our reporter Tuesday afternoon, the Masindi municipal authorities have spent over three months without collecting the garbage.

Ten years back, the market was accommodating over 100 business operators and declination is at its peak.

Sunday Tumwesige, a butcher operator explains that the weekly market that operates on Saturday has been abandoned stressing that only four people turn up for business on Saturdays.

Tumwesige attributes the decline to garbage since it has covered almost half of the market.

Joseph Isingoma, a pork joint operator at the same market asserts that previously they would get profits compared to now.

”I used to get profits before, due to the garbage, i’m counting only losses.”

Riitah Birungi, restaurant operator, says that due to the chocking smell from the garbage, he has lost a number of customers.

Birungi stresses that they are at risk of contracting diseases yet they pay tax. ”Municipal authorities are always harsh when collecting taxes, but they are not minding of collecting the garbage.”

When our reporter approached Patrick Asiimwe the Deputy Town Clerk Masindi Municipality in his office, he declined to comment on the matter and referred us to Francis Businge the Central Division Town Clerk.

Efforts to get a comment from Francis Businge, the Central Division Town Clerk, were futile since his known phone number was unavailable by the time we filed this story.

Sheema south constituency MP Hon prof Elijah Dickens Mushemeza has warned teachers  against continually  disturbing government and president over the increase of their salaries saying that they are poor and needy and  they should wait until government answers them.

While addressing masseson Monday  at Kitagata town council headquarters, Prof Mushemeza said that most teachers have failed to realise  that they are poor and needy

‘’you teachers ,its true president Museveni promised to increase your salaries but we are still in an economic crisis, I want to assure you in   broad day light that you can’t afford strikes, first of all you are poor and needy, you can’t strike and you spend even  three days at home not working , where will you get what to eat?, it’s very hard for a poor person to make a successful strike ,even if we don’t beat you, you will abandon the strikes yourselves’’ Mushemeza said

Mushemeza  said governement is ready to sack teachers who engage in  strikes.

‘’ these things of putting President on pressure won’t work for you, by the way let me tell you open truth, those who need teaching jobs are as many as I can say , we have so many professional teachers on standby, just strike , we shall chase you all and employ those who need jobs’’ Mushemeza

It should be remembered that before Mushemeza joined parliament representing people of Sheema south as an independent candidate, he was a lecturer at Ankole Western University  however it seems he has already forgotten the worse conditions most teachers go through in their respective places of work.

On the same address, MP Mushemeza told residents of Sheema that they should get used to the current high prices of commodities saying that, this is just the beginning
