The Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner Stephen Nsubuga Bewayo has disclosed that the government has resolved to start recalling or withdrawing errant civil servants instead of transferring them to new workstations.
This was part of his remarks made on Friday at an induction for councilors of Buyanja Town Council.
The induction followed several petitions from the councilors seeking audit reports to allay suspicion of misuse of Town Council funds.
Stephen Bewayo revealed that during the recently concluded Kyankwanzi retreat, they resolved to start to withdraw appointments and suspend suspected Civil servants to carry out thorough investigations.
He noted that where one is found culpable they will be dismissed rather than transferred.
Buyanja Town council councilors made two petitions on 23rd March 2022 and 25th April 2022, asking the resident district commissioner to engage the Public Accounts committee to produce the audit report for the last financial year showing the income and expenditure on the council land that was sold, COVID-19 funds, Road fund among others.
The district secretary for Production, Marketing, and Natural resources Byarugaba Micheal who represented the chairperson LC5 confirmed that they received the petition and are looking forward to solving the raised issues.
The Area district councilor Tumusiime Benon revealed that he is keen to hear and witness the audit report as he was on several occasions invited for informal meetings that made him worry about bribes as well as misuse of funds.
