ANOTHER DORMITORY FIRE IN MBARARA: SUSPECTED ARSON ATTACK AT ST ANDREWS RUBINDI

Police in Mbarara have started investigations surrounding a suspected arson attack on a dormitory at St. Andrews Rubindi Secondary School in Rubindi Town council, Mbarara District.
According to ASP Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Police mouthpiece the fire started at around 08:00Am in the morning while the students were in class.
It is said it destroyed all the properties in the boys’ dormitory that accommodated 60 senior five students although no student was hurt.
Kasasira added that Police fire brigade responded in time extinguishing fire from spreading to the next rooms.
The police mouthpiece narrated that so far no arrests have been made but the police are working around the clock with the school administration to have the perpetrators brought to book.
Robert Bayo the head teacher St .Andrews Rubindi Secondary School told this online publication that they are sorry for what happened and revealed that the school administration is working together with police to ascertain the would be causes of the fire outbreak.
Gabriel Ahimbisibwe the Mbarara District Education Officer said they had convened a meeting together with the security team and the school administration to ascertain what caused the fire outbreak.
This becomes a third dormitory fire in Rwizi region in less than one week ; end of last week fire gutted boys’ dormitory at Mbarara secondary school while girls’ dormitory at Rushanje Girls Secondary School in Rweibogo Cell Rweibogo ward in Rwampara District also caught fire yesterday night.
