Police in Hoima district is investigating circumstances under which a woman dumped her own baby in a toilet.

The suspect is identified as Beatrice Raciu 36years, a resident of Kapaapi II village in Kapaapi Parish Kapaapi Sub County.

According to Mr. Michael Oketch the area chairperson, the nine-month baby is suspected to have been dumped in the toilet by the mother over the weekend.

Oketch told our reporter Sunday evening that he was alerted by a concerned resident after hearing the baby crying in the toilet.

‘’When I got the information, it forced me to find the missing child in the area, we realized that Raciu didn’t have a child, when asked, she said that the child was dumped into the toilet,’’ he explains.

The area chairperson asserts that he immediately informed the police which retrieved the baby.

‘’Unfortunately the innocent baby died,’’ he says.

The suspect is detained at Kigorobya police station. While the baby’s lifeless body is at Kigorobya health centre pending autopsy.

ASP Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson when contacted said the matter hasn’t been reported to his office.

‘’I haven’t got such information, let me find out, I will get back to you,’’ he said.
