Residents of Buheesi village, Ihunga parish Nyarushanje subcounty Rukungiri district as still in shock after a 37-year-old man who had been announced dead and his body was brought home for burial surfaced at his own funeral.
Junior Niwagaba a son to Peninah Tumushabe,a resident of Buheesi village, has been working in Mbarara city and his mother was yesterday informed that his son had been killed by unknown assailants which forced her to start preparations for burial by going to pick the body from Mbarara.
Tumushabe, says she found it hard to identify the body because it was burnt beyond recognition.
She picked the body and the family that was preparing for burial was shocked after the arrival of their son whom they thought had died.
Confusion had started earlier during burial preparations when one relative called Niwgabas Phone and he picked it.
Word quickly spread that the person they considered dead was infact alive and arrangements were made for him to travel home so that they physically confirm the news
Spenser Muhangire, a resident, said that he was shocked but grateful to God to find that their son is alive and currently at their home in Nyarushanje .

Micheal Musiime, the Nyarushanje sub county Chairperson also confirmed the shocking news saying that they were about to start the burial ceremony but they cancelled it after the person they presumed dead showed up.
According Niwagabas mother, they have obtained permission from authorities, to take back the dead body to Mbarara university hospital mutuary where it had been since they found their son alive,

Police of Kakumiro have arrested a senior assistant secretary formerly referred to as the sub-county chief of Kijanji sub-county over allegations of misusing public funds and abuse of office.

The suspect has been identified as Emmanuel Kasibante.
This has been revealed by the District police commander Kakumiro District ASP Edgar Kolaigye today afternoon while speaking to press at Kakumiro police headquarters.

Kolaigye said that they received complaints from Kijanji people on how government funds were being misused. The state minister for transport Hon Fred Byamukama directed police to arrest him.

DPC Kolaigye has also warned all civil servants to use the funds allocated to the district appropriately and warned to arrest anyone who will fail to use the funds properly.

Speaking to our reporter in his office, the Deputy Chief administrative officer Kakumiro District Fredrick Byekwaso confirmed the arrest of Emmanuel Kasibante.

He says that special auditing in Kijanji sub-county is ongoingto ascertain how the money for councilors and covid funds were used.

Police in Mitooma are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 37 year old man.

The deceased has been identified as Allan Nuwashaba Rukooza a resident of Kirera village,Mushunga Parish in Mitooma district.

According to SP Marcial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson the deceased picked a quarrel with Edison Kamukama on 2/8/2022 at around 0200hrs in Kakesa T/Centre,Mushunga Parish Mitooma sub-county in Mitooma District.

The police mouthpiece told www.mknewslink.com reporter that the quarrel resulted into a fight and the deceased was injured on the head.

The deceased’s condition worsened and he died on 3/8/2022 on the way to Ishaka Adventist Hospital for treatment.

The body of the deceased was taken back to Mitooma Health centre IV and it was discovered that he died of traumatic brain injury.
SP Tumusiime said the suspect Kamukama Edson was arrested and is currently detained at Mitooma Police Station.

Police have attributed the rampant accidents in the new oil roads to inadequate manpower in the traffic department.

While speaking to reporters Thursday morning in his office, Allan Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson revealed that there are many road accidents occurring these days due to reckless riding and driving since there are few traffic police officers deployed on most roads in the Albertine Region.

Hakiza said that there is need for road users to be careful while using these roads because traffic police cannot be everywhere due to the challenge of manpower they are having in the traffic department.

This follows the accident that happened during the weekend along Masindi – Kinyara road where a motorcycle Bajaj boxer registration number UWE 949J had a head on collision with HOWO track registration number UAZ 257Z belonging to STC company and two people died instantly.

Hakiza said the deceased were identified as Paul Bagologoza aged 32years and Simon Ayebale 35years old adding that the accident was caused by over speeding from both sides.

He advised the general public to be mindful and learn how to control their speed because they are the managers of their lives even without traffic officers.

Early this week, a boda boda rider identified as Rogers Mutegeki 29, a resident of Kitonozi village in Rukondwa Parish Bujenje Constituency Masindi district ran into a stationary vehicle registration number UBK 850Z and died on spot.

The incident happened on Monday at around 10pm along Masindi – Hoima road a few kilometres from Masindi town.

According to the deceased’s relative who preferred anonymity, his brother was traveling from Kitonozi to Kirasa cell in Central Division Masindi Municipality.

The Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) yesterday commissioned office premises for the Kisoro District Resident State Attorney worth 385 million shillings at Kisoro district head quarters to enhance judicial services in the district.

The commissioning was graced by a few dignitaries including Kisoro district LCV Chairman Abel Bizimana, Chief Administrative officer Hajji Badru Mayanja, Kisoro Court Chief Magistrate, among others.

In his speech, the Kisoro district LCV Chairman Abel Bizimana congratulated the resident state attorney for not only getting a well facilitated office but also being near court. He said that the office will be an opportunity for the people of Kisoro to easily access Resident state attorneys.

He commended a one innocent Sebutare who tipped him about the availability of funds in the judiciary to facilitate construction of DPP offices and the Kisoro district council that passed the resolution. He vowed to continue lobbying for his voters because they entrusted him through votes.

He said that the district is ready to give more land to other government agencies that have funds to develop them.

The Kisoro district Chief Administrative officer, Hajji Badru Mayanja congratulated the resident state attorney from the renting trauma. He expressed dissatisfaction over police reports in Kisoro that his office always alters cases provided to him in order to confuse exhibits.

He also advised that the resident state attorney should avoid court brokers who con money from court clients pretending to be court officials.

The Principal Assistant Secretary in the office of DPP, Denis Byaruhanga commended the Kisoro district leadership for offering land to DPP because it will save them a burden of renting offices. He noted that the DPP is considering having DPP offices constructed in all districts. He revealed that the current state attorney for Kisoro will be transferred to Kanungu Next week on monday.

The house was constructed by Bullmark Construction Company limited that was constructed in February last year. An official who represented the company noted that their completion period was delayed due to a few challenges that include covid-19 and delays from the CAO’s office.

He noted that the houses have three offices, a store and other rooms that make it able for the house to accommodate more than one officer.
