Butuuro SACCO Limited one of the powerful SACCOS in greater Bushenyi located in Nyakabirizi division Bushenyi Ishaka municipality yesterday unveiled a very powerful car from Japan to help staff and board do their work better.
While handing over the vehicle Henry Bamwine the treasurer who represented the chairman Benson Mbugane called upon staff of Butuuro to utilize the vehicle very well in doing the work for Butuuro SACCO.

Butuuro SACCO started about 17 years ago with one million shillings but it’s now proud with billions of shillings. It has branches in Kashenshero, Kyabugimbi and an outreach in Bikurungu Rukungiri district.
Butuuro SACCO was started by one individual Pison Mugizi and was joined by others with marketing ideas which made the SACCO grow to where it is now.

The vehicle was bought from Japan and it has all it takes to deliver success in terms of transport.

BULIISA:

The construction of Biiso – Masindi road which commenced in 2019 is expected to be completed next year, according to the UNRA Project Engineer.

In 2019, the government of Uganda contracted China Railway Seventh Group Co. Ltd to construct five of the critical oil roads including Biiso – Masindi road. China Railway Seventh Group Co. Ltd further sub contracted STC which is constructing the said road.

In exclusive interview with our reporter Thursday evening, Ashraf Tayebwa the Uganda National Roads Authority {UNRA} Project engineer said the activities of tarmacing a 47kilometer Biiso – Masindi road started was supposed to be completed this year but due to some delays and challenges, it is expected to be completed in January next year.

He notes that among the delays and challenges includes delayed land acquisition due to absentee land owners, family conflicts over compensations, delayed payment by the government to contractors among many others have contributed to the delay of the completion of the road.

The Project engineer further urged the community members to cooperate with the contractors and let the project progress so that they benefit after completion.

Authorities in Sheema district are hunting for family heads who have failed to construct latrines with in their households .

According to Sheema district assistant DHO Johnson Akankwatsa, they are dealing with Kigarama as a sub county.
He revealed that four hundred twenty-five households in the subcounty don’t have latrines but instead use bushes and neighbours’ latrines.
Akankwasa was yesterday speaking to journalists as the district health team together with police arrested whoever was found without a latrine/toilet in Kigarama sub county.
He said that those arrested will be taken to courts of law and if convicted they will be imprisoned for two years

Police in Rukiga District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 23-year-old man of Rwandan nationality.
Elly Maate the Kigezi region Police spokesman identified the deceased as Kaberuka Sekyerwa
Maate says the deceased who has been working in Kampala wanted to cross back to his home country Rwanda using an ungazetted route where he could have been attacked and killed by unknown assailants as he was about to cross the border.
His body was discovered at around 6:00PM on the 3/8/2022 lying in the bush along the footpath to Rwanda.
Maate says the area parish security officer Justus Bareberaho notified the area police of Kamwezi and scene was visited this morning by Homicide team from RUKIGA Central Police station,
The body was taken to Kamwezi Healthy center 4 mortuary for postmortem and Rwandan authorities were accordingly informed.
He says Inquiries are at hand and no suspect has been arrested yet .

Three NRM members of parliament from Kisoro district have maintained their decision to support an independent and not the party candidate in the upcoming by election in Bukimbiri County.

The defiant MPs are Eng Paul Kwizera Bucyana (Kisoro Municipality), John Nizeyimana Kamara (Bufumbira North), and Dr James Nsaba Buturo (Bufumbira East).

These were summoned on Tuesday this week by the NRM National Vice Chairperson Al Hajj Moses Kigongo to explain their decision to oppose Eddie Kwizera Wagahungu as the NRM candidate and instead support Asigario
Turyagyenda.

The MPs were called for a private meeting with Alhaji Moses Kigongo, Deputy NRM Treasurer Jacqueline Kyatuheire and Emmanuel Dombo Lumala the NRM Director of Communications at Ikoro Hotel in Nyakabande sub-county to explain why they escorted Turyagyenda for nomination.

Dombo says the MPs were summoned for contravening the party regulations of not supporting the party flag bearer.

He says that they asked the legislators to bury the hatchet, change their hearts, and support Kwizera.

But the MPs said yesterday, after the meeting that they would not change their stance on the matter.One of them even cited the recent appointment of Hon Norbert Mao, the DP president into cabinet, as part of the reason to snub the NRM candidate.

“I don’t understand why they are forcing us to support Kwizera based on the NRM flag” said Hon Bucyana.

They seem to forget that the Democratic Party
President General was recently awarded a ministerial seat by President Yoweri Museveni yet he is not in the NRM.

On his part Kamara said he would not be intimidated to change his mind and the decision of supporting Turyagyenda. Kamara described Kwizera as “unfit” to hold any leadership seat in Bukimbiri and Kisoro at large
because he uses abusive language and is discriminative based on religion.Voting in Bukimbiri is scheduled to take place on August 11, 2022.

The senior Presidential Advisor on Economic Affairs, Professor Ephraim Kamuntu has implored all parents and guardians to educate their children if they are to have a better future.

Speaking as a Key Note speaker at a memorial service of the late Prof.Enock Rukare who was the first Vice Chancellor of Bishop Stuart University at its inception in 2002.
The service was held on Thursday at Bishop Stuart University in Kakoba , Mbarara city ,Kamuntu noted that the most precious will which parents can render to their children is only education.

Relatedly, The Rt.Rev.Dr.Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa the Bishop Ankole diocese who also doubles as the Chancellor Bishop Stuart university expressed concern with University graduates who do not live up to the task after being employed in companies and expect to get paid.

Bishop Sheldon is now calling upon the youth to show love and respect to the tasks given to them which he thinks it smoothens one’s work and Ensures good end results.

Speaking during the same service Professor Mauda Kamatenesi the Vice Chancellor Bishop Stuart University argued parents to be mentors of their children. Kamatenesi adds that some parents have forgotten their parenting role which has left morals of many children in a worrying State.

The function was also attended by the family of the late Professor Enock Rukare led by Mrs.Gwene Rukare the wife to the late professor ,and as a way of promoting education the family handed over a scholarship cheque worth Shs.50 million which will cater for unprevilleged students that intend to offer Education Course.

As one way of celebrating the achievements of Prof .Enock Rukare the university choose to have it’s 3rd.floor of University Main library named after the late Prof. Enock Rukare.
The function was part of the ongoing Bishop Stuart week that is under the theme celebrating 20 years of Generational Transformation of the community through holistic education.

BRIEF HISTORY ABOUT BISHOP STUART UNIVERSITY.

BSU Is named after Cyril Stuart who was the Anglican Bishop of Uganda in the middle of the 20th.BSU started operations in 2003 at the campus of then Kakoba National Teacher’s College (KNTC) in Western ugandan city of Mbarara.
KNTC ceased operations in at the end of 2005 ,and in 2006 ,BSU took over the premises and grounds previously occupied by the teacher’s College.

In 2006,BSU held it’s maiden graduation ceremony.
However ,the certificates, diplomas and degrees were awarded by Uganda Christian University.

The first batch of students to graduate on BSU letterheads were the graduates of 2009.

On the 10 .October.2014,at the University 10th.graduation ceremony,the then minister of Education and Sports Jessica Alupo announced that BSU had been cleared by Uganda National Council for Higher Education to receive a university charter. The charter was granted and delivered to the university in late October 2014.
The university has 5 facilities and 14 departments with an enrollment of over 5000 students.

Residents of Igabiro cell, Mwanjari ward southern Division Kabale Municipality have vowed to petition the ministry of works and transport over Kabale Municipal Council and Uganda National Roads Authority channeling drainage system to their houses.

Speaking to our reporter the aggrieved residents said that before the construction of Mwanjari business center, water had its channel connecting to river kiruruma.

They said that the running water from Mwanjari business center has caused a lot of suffering and the situation becomes worse when it rains.

Some of the concerned residents, Mwesiga Ivan, Robinah Kakwangiire, and Atamba Ebenezer said that they have been extending their concerns to the two parties of Kabale Municipal and UNRA but all was in vain.

They added that UNRA told them that they were compensated yet they have never received any single coin from the two parties.

The aggrieved residents added that they were surprised to see the Engineer instructing his workers to continue channeling water culverts into their place yet he had already told him the situation they are passing through

Robinah Kakwangire added that at 50yrs, she had never had sleepless nights until the construction of the Business center.

Atamba Ebenezer, a grandchild to Lidia kururagiire said that the running water has given him sleepless nights trying to protect his grandmother and their house.

He added that a lot of money has been wasted on renovation of their house caused by this running water.

“We are neither terrorists nor fighting the government to be the reason why they directly channeled water into our homes,” aggrieved residents added.

The chairperson lc1 of Igabiro cell Mr. Athenazious Mugasi and chairman lc2 mwanjari Ward Rurekyera Andrew said that they addressed their grievances to the UNRA who complied but they were shocked on listening the mayor on a phone call with the UNRA Manager telling him not to address the aggrieved residents but rather concentrate on his work.

They added that the UNRA never compensated anybody in their villages and those that UNRA claims to have compensated are from other cells.

They accused mayor Sentaro for politicizing the situation saying that even though they opposed him in last elections, He should know that they are also Ugandans and need equal services.

They vowed to petition the ministry of works and transport if their grievances are not addressed.

Speaking to our reporter on a phone call, the kabale Municipality mayor directed the aggrieved residents to go and sort their issues with in UNRA

The UNRA Manager Flex Tumukunde pinned the mayor to be behind the channeled drainage system.

Tumukunde that the aggrieved residents where compensated with the help of the Municipal Authorities and that he is trying to look for the documents where they were compensated from.

Tumukunde added that he has been draining the mayor was trying to contact them so that they can remove their buildings

He further said that constructing the trenches up to the River down was so expensive.

The Kabale District Residents Commissioner Mr Godfrey Nyakahuma pledged to write to UNRA Engineer, Mayor, Town clerk and chairperson lc3 Mwanjari division so that they can see how to address their grievances

Nyakahuma added that all the buildings behind the Karambuzi complex buildings get flooded when it rains and the people are in a very bad state.

When asked about the delays in addressing the issue, Nyakahuma said that he had traveled to Kyankwanzi in RDC’s Orientation meetings but their issue is on his first program.

Police in Rwizi Region through the flying squad unit has tracked and apprehended two suspected motorcycle thieves.

ASP Samson Kasasira the Rwizi police mouthpiece confirmed the matter and identified the Suspects as Twakire Ivan,29 years a businessman and a Resident of Nsambya Makindye Division in Kampala- and Turyamuhoona Darius 29 years a driver and a Resident of Ibanda district.

Kasasira says the two were arrested on two counts of murder and aggravated robbery in connection with the death of Ronald Nareeba whom they killed along Mbarara-Bushenyi Road in Kihumuro before making away with his motorcycle Registration number UEF491S Bajaj Boxer Red in Color robbed on 8th.july.2022 which has not been recovered to date.

He adds that during the same operation two motorcycles were recovered under the same Registration number plate UFK393P , Engine serial number MD2A18AJ3MWA88792 same color though different Number plate serial numbers which are 1885741-2 and 2004085-6 which are yet to be verified by Uganda Revenue Authority.

Kasasira further says that the two Suspects are part of a bigger racket involved in motorcycle theft and moving them across the boarders which are being tracked by police.

He is now appealing to the general public to be vigilant and take personal security serious to avoid being taken advantage of by thugs.
