MASINDI POLICE ARREST WOMAN FOR ALLEGEDLY DUMPING HER BABY

Police in Masindi district is holding Immaculate Ayebale, a 23 years old woman on allegations of dumping her 2-months-old baby under a Mango tree in Kilanyi Village Pakanyi Sub County Masindi district.
The innocent baby was discovered last Sunday by a Good Samaritan who handed it over to Masindi Central Police before it was evacuated to Gate-way baby’s home in Kiryandongo district.
Following the police intervention, the suspect was arrested today from her aunt’s residence in Kihuuba Cell Karujubu division Masindi municipality.
According to an eyewitness who preferred anonymity, the baby’s parents who are residents of Nyangahya division developed a family misunderstanding on Saturday which later resulted into a fight.

In her statement, Ayebale refuted the claims that she dumped her baby saying that it was in the hands of its father before the regrettable incident.
Contrary to Ayebale’s statement, Mariam Nyabutaraga, the suspect’s mother-in-law, claims that the baby was handed over to the suspect’s relatives.
Julius Allan Hakiza, Albertine Region Police Spokesperson confirmed the arrest and said the suspect is detained at Masindi CPS.
