MASINDI APPROVES STRUCTURAL DESIGN FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF 42 BILLION MARKET

Masindi Municipal Council has Thursday afternoon approved a structural design for the construction of 42 billion shillings market.
Eng. Gabriel Fataki, the Project Manager for the construction of Masindi Central Market, expressed his excitement after the council anonymously approved the structural design since it included all the requirements.
The construction of the market is being funded by the Africa Development Bank implementing the Markets and Agricultural Trade Improvement Project {MATIP} under the Ministry of Local Government.
MATIP aims to boost markets in 21 municipalities and urban communities in Uganda.
According to Eng. Fataki, Masindi Central Market which will have four gates will accommodate 1,504 vendors and it will be a two storeyed market but with open space market for easy function and accessibility.
In addition, the market will have 80 parking spaces, tourism features, and monuments for Omukama Kabalega, Clock tower, foundation of leisure and others.
Eng. Fataki is optimistic that the Africa Development Bank will disburse the funds since the structural design has been approved. He also asserts that the purpose of the market is to boost the volume of trade and increase household income.
Ronald Businge Kyomuhendo the Mayor Masindi Municipality commended the government for the development saying it will boost the business and household income in the municipality and district.
The politician who didn’t disclose the commencement for the construction of the market said that they are waiting for the ministry of local government to play their part since the plan has been approved.
