HOPE FOR GIRL CHILD: ROTARY CLUB DONATES PAD SEWING MACHINE TO KABALE SCHOOL

The rotary club of Makindye yesterday afternoon launched its 7 pillars of education, literacy focus and donated scholastic materials to use at Bugongi upper primary school in Northern division Kabale Municipality.
Mable Abigaba the president of Makindye rotary club revealed that the club has 7 pillars that the club keep on enhancing and focusing on basic education literacy, water, hygiene and sanitation. Others include, maternal and child health, disease prevention and treatment.
Abigaba revealed that the ministry of education and sports report outed 2021 revealed that only 39% have required competence in reading and the club has taken a step to enhance reading.
Through this, Makindye rotary club has done this as a way of transforming reading culture by donating 100 books, sewing machine and various knickers to females of the school.
Abigaba hopes that the sewing machine will help girls gain sanitary pads to use during their menstrual periods.
The Kabale municipal principal educational officer Mr Munyambabazi Grace the guest of honour thanked the Rotarians for having school interventions and their donations and promised them that they will continue make thoroughly reports on what given to the school.
Munyambabazi thanked the Rotarians for teaching pupils while demonstrating washing hands with water and soap and to provide a trainer to teach pupils on how to use the donated machine on to issue out sanitary pads and promised the Rotarians that today they have made a permanent relation.
The president rotary club Kabale Musiime Jimmy revealed that they donated text books and sewing machine to Two Schools that is Upper Bugongi and lower Bugongi primaries to improve on the reading culture of learners as they understand more and taught how to use the donated scholastic materials as club of Kabale they concentrate on.
Musiime in addition revealed that the donated machine is to be used successfully and felt better for the promise from the rotary club materials to use whole making sanitary pads for girls to use during menstrual periods.
Rotarians have also launched tree planting in the school and taught children how to use water and soap after using toilets
