Police in Mbarara are holding two men arrested from Mbarara Region Referral Hospital over impersonation and theft.
Halson Kagure the Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital Public Relations Officer identified the suspects as Nicholas Twinamatsiko a resident of Rwebihuro in Mbarara and Ronald Tubule who hails from Mitooma District.
Kagure said Nicholas Twinamatsiko is accused of masquerading as a health worker in the name of stealing patients and medics valuables at the facility.
He noted that upon his arrest, he attempted to fight a female security officer which prompted her to make an alarm that attracted caretakers and health workers.
He added that Twinamatsiko masqueraded as a son to the late Col. Shaban Bantariza.
The PRO said police from Mbarara Central Police station swung into action and handcuffed him up to police for safe custody.
Halson Kagure further revealed that Ronald Tubule (another suspect) was arrested by the hospital security team following a tip off from residents as he sneaked out two hospital beds at Taso Village Katete bridge.
It’s alleged that Tubule could have sneaked the hospital beds over the hospital’s perimeter wall with the help of the yet to be apprehended accomplices.
The two suspects were handed to police for further interrogations.
The arrest of the two comes barely one week after the hospital administration arrested two cleaners with a stolen oxygen concentrator.
