Former Igara East MP Contestant, Hon. Dan Mugura Karukiiko has challenged fellow catholic Christians in Buyanja to be servants of God.

He said this while delivering the 30 bags of cement that he had contributed towards construction of Rev. Father Chrispus Amumpaire’s house in Buyanja Kyeizooba, Igara East and a gift of a cow to Father Amumpaire’s mother Ms. Gaudensia Bereebire.

He added that God says in his word that let Christians test him ‘and see if he will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

Present at the function were the chairperson, parish council Mr. Byamugisha Richard who also happens to be Rev Father Wycliff’s father, Mr Atwiine Emmanuel the Speaker, Kyeizooba s/c and the chairman Lc 1 Mr Byarugaba Velentino.

After this colorful function Hon. Dan Mugura also visited Numba Catholic Primary school and Nyandozo Catholic Primary School where he met all P. 7 candidates, parents and the rest of the school committee members.

While delivering success wishes to P7, Mr Mugura donated scholastic materials including mathematical sets, pens and rulers.

He was in company of the chairman LC 3 Bumbaire Subcounty Mr. Celestine Bagampangire.

Mr Mugura further gave out an offer of a series of fully sponsored trips to all pupils of the schools and teachers to visit one of the best recreation and Play centre in Uganda called Mbarara Kids Planet.

Mr Mugura while visiting most of the schools in Igara East was clad in full school uniform of the schools he visited.

“I have put on this school uniform because I value you pupils and the future of this country lies in your hands. We were also pupils like you before turning into responsible leaders that we are today”, Dan said while at Nyandozo primary school.

Hon Mugura had on previous day paid similar visits to Kyeizooba Primary School and Mungonya P/S in Kyeizooba s/c and Kihiire primary school and Nyakabanga primary school in Kyabugimbi sub county.
Dan is known for being non segregative when it comes to serving the people of Igara East.

He says his priorities are on the projects that touch people’s lives especially sensitization on government programmes. The constituents of Igara East have identified themselves with this new blood because he is reachable and down to Earth.

The bishop of west ankole Diocese, rt. Rev. Johnson Twinomujuni has backed Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa’s firm position on homosexuality and abortion, describing both practices as unchristian.

Bishop Twinomujuni, a vocal cleric and a critic of homosexuality also praised Tayebwa’s resolve to protect the Ugandan and Church values plus moral fiber intact amid mounting pressure from the western world.

“We can’t thank our dear Rt. Hon. Tayebwa enough!! It takes more than gallantry to be that bold and solid amidst such a [ACP-EU] meeting,” Bishop Twinomujuni wrote in What’sApp group ‘West Ankole Diocese’ containing church and other leaders who hail from the diocese.

“Those claps in the background are evidence, and so should give us confidence, that we have many more in the world whose moral fiber is still intact. In the struggle against perversion from Godliness, we are not alone! Human wrongs should never be upheld as rights! Nobody has a right to do wrong,” the cleric added.

Last week, Tayebwa made Uganda’s position against homosexuality very clear at the 61st session of the African, Caribbean and Pacific States Parliamentary Assembly and 42nd Session of the ACP-European Union Joint Parliamentary Assembly (ACP-EU JPA) in Maputo, Mozambique

“I heard someone saying that LGBT, Homosexuality and Abortion are human rights, which must be respected universally, I just want to assure you, they can never be accepted in Uganda. I’m the Deputy Speaker of Parliament and I can assure you that the Parliament I lead will never pass laws that are against our values,” Tayebwa said receiving thunderous applause from delegates.

Tayebwa also maintained that Ugandan values can never be exchanged for Western funding, and insisted that, “it can never be accepted in Uganda”.

Tayebwa was responding to calls by the European Union under the Post Cotonou agreement to respect abortion, homosexuality and LGBTQ as human rights that must be respected universally.

“We have discovered that with the Post Cotonou agreement, there are hidden clauses concerning human rights. Clauses to do with sexuality, promotion of LGBT/homosexuality and clauses to do with abortion,” he said.

“We are a society that is not ready for homosexuality and we are a society that is not ready for abortion. As Africa, we believe that the institution of the family is at the core of whatever we are doing,” Tayebwa said adding that, ’the EU is demanding that we take a certain root, they should also know the character of our society’.

Religious leaders under the Inter Religious Council of Uganda, the umbrella association of religious bodies in the country have previously asked Parliament to block attempts that seek to promote homosexuality, abortion and LGBTQ practices

Police in Masindi district have arrested a 52-year-old man on allegations of defiling a 12-year-old girl.

The suspect identified as Balikurungi John was arrested on Saturday at his home in Kijura Central Cell Central Division in Masindi Municipality Masindi district.

The trouble for Balikurungi came after buying sandals for the victim after allegedly sleeping with her.

The victim who is a primary four pupil at Masindi Islamic Primary School told our reporter at Masindi Central Police Station that Balikurungi has been persuading her several times and sleeping with her.

She asserted that after cooking and washing his clothes on Saturday, Balikurungi gave her 10,000 shillings to buy sandals.

“This was the fifth time he slept with me, he has been persuading me with different tactics,” she said.
Speaking to this online publication, the victim’s paternal aunt who preferred anonymity said that after interrogating the child, she revealed that Balikurungi gave her 10,000 shillings to buy sandals.
”This prompted me to ask Balikurungi and he confessed giving her money to buy sandals. I was pissed off when the child told me that he has been using her. This forced me to inform the father,” she said.

Mr. James Businge, the victim’s father revealed that he immediately informed the police who arrested the suspect and detained him at Masindi Central Police Station.
”My child was examined and the results indicated that she has been sleeping with a man,” he said.
The Kijura Central Cell Defence Chairperson Zziwa Lawrence attributed such incidents to drug abuse saying that it is on the rise in Kijura trading Centre.
”Most people involved in drug abuse are putting our children’s lives in danger. This vice is on the rise in the area,” he said.
The Albertine Region Police Spokesperson Julius Allan Hakiza confirmed the arrest and said the suspect is detained at Masindi Central Police Station saying the investigations have commenced.

“The case of aggravated defilement under S.D REF No. 56/05/11/2022 has been registered at Masindi Central Police Station,” he added.

Cases of defilement are on increased in Bunyoro region ;On 23rd October 2022, police in Masindi district arrested Mr. Hosea Kiiza the headteacher of St. Kizito Primary School Murro in Bwijanga sub county for allegedly defiling his own two pupils who were boarding.
The 54-year-old head teacher appeared before the Masindi Chief Magistrate Court on 28th October 2022, and was remanded to Masindi Government Prisons until 8th of November 2022 over aggravated defilement.
In October this year, the teacher attached to Masindi Miracle Center Church Primary School went on the run after allegedly defiling a 12-year-old pupil of the school.
The suspect identified as Paddy Kalinka reportedly fled after defiling a primary six pupil whose name has been withheld.
It is alleged that Kalinka used to seduce young girls to have sex with him with the promise of awarding them good marks in his subjects.
The victim told this publication that shortly after night preps, Kalinka grabbed and forced her into a sexual act in the school compound.
On learning of the criminal incident from a fellow parent, Brian Agaba, the father to the victim says he opened up a defilement case against Kalinka at Masindi Central Police Station.
We could not ascertain whether the suspect had been arrested.
