ASSAILANTS CHOP BODA BODA RIDER IN MBARARA, STEAL MOTORCYCLE

Police in Mbarara district have lodged a hunt for yet to be identified assailants who attacked a 27-year-old boda boda rider and took away with his motorcycle.
The vitim has been identified as Nicholas Mugisha 27 years a Boda Boda Rider operating in Rubindi-Ruhumba Town council and a resident of Bugarama Cell, Karweshanga ward in Rubindi-Ruhumba Town council.
According to Ivan Makuru, the chairperson Mbarara Boda Boda Riders Association, their colleague was on Tuesday night at around 08:30 PM approached by unknown man at his Boda Boda stage in Rubindi-Ruhumba Town council who asked him for a ride to unidentified destination.
He narrated that a few metres from Rubindi town, two unknown assailants together with the passenger attacked Mugisha cutting him severally on head before they made away with his motorcycle registration number UFQ 654P.
He said their colleague was later rescued by residents who saw him bleeding on the road side and rushed him to Sheema Clinic in Bwizibwera where he was referred to Mbarara regional referral hospital.
Mukuru revealed that this was the second motorcycle to be stolen from the area in a space of two weeks.
He added that as Boda Boda leadership they have resolved to have a meeting with authorities to forge out a way on how to curb down the increasing criminality against Boda Boda riders.
