A decision by a section of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders to endorse President Museveni as their candidate in the 2026 presidential elections has sparked disagreements in Mbarara city.

Some members have asked he takes a break when his current five-year term ends while others want him for another term.

On Friday, a group of about 700 NRM supporters assembled in Mbarara city and declared their support for Museveni.

The group allied to the Office of the Mbarara Resident City Commissioner and the minister for Presidency Milly Babalanda, said Museveni is still able to lead the country.

Led by Wilson Tumwine , the NRM chairperson of Mbarara City and Lt.Col .James Mwesigye the Mbarara Resident city Commissioner , they read out President Museveni’s achievements.

However, some leaders led by Polly Katwire the Mbarara City NRM Secretary General accused their colleagues of greed and noted that the ongoing endorsements are illegal.

Katwire also condemned what he called “hard heartedness “of NRM leaders pushing for Museveni’s 2026 bid without the regard of the young blood and other players in the ruling party.

Katwire has since advised those involved in early campaigns to focus on improving service delivery.

The push for president Museveni’s seventh elective term has since sparked a rumbling battle of words between party leaders and opposition politicians who accuse the architects of “Jajja Omalako Tova Ku Main “mantra of diverting Ugandans from important issues in the country.

There is a great witch craft rumor at All Saints greater church Bushenyi engineered by a political female animal from Kitookye village central division, Bushenyi Ishaka municipality.
www.mknewslink.com will not name anyone but use metaphors to avoid being dragged into courts of law.
The Kitookye female woman spends most of her time in flowers around the church and she harvests a flower every Sunday morning, puts in witch craft and places it on the table of the archdeacon etc.
The outgoing archdeacon Bethel Namara who has been promoted to diocesan secretary told www.mknewslink.com MD that he has evidence that witchcraft is at play at the church.
He noted that there is a group of women plus church staff who are engaged into witchcraft at the church.
According to sources, the Kitookye political female animal told Christians that if she wants a church leader transferred, it is very easy with her witch craft flower.
She expressed happiness when Rev. Mweyungye was transferred, and now when Rev. Can. Bethel has been transferred to the diocese as diocesan secretary.
Witchcraft has been rumored in Ugandan churches especially from women who cover up their evil actions with salvation.

Masindi district council has joined the list of districts in Bunyoro region that have passed resolutions rejecting the planned succession of Bagungu from Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom.

Masindi district passed the resolution during its sitting chaired by speaker Moses Kiirya on Thursday.

The motion was tabled by Pascal Businge, the councilor representing Kigulya division and seconded by several councilors.

This comes at a time when the Bagungu in Buliisa district are pushing for their secession from Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom citing marginalization and erosion of their culture.

Innocent Awungi, the councilor for Bulima town council, while seconding Businge’s motion said there is no need and justification for the Bagungu to secede from Bunyoro Kingdom since they have lived in harmony with it for decades.

”Mr. Speaker, I don’t support the planned secession because Bagungu has lived in harmony with the Kingdom, some even hold offices in the Kingdom,” Awungi said.

The district male youth councillor Simon Byaruhanga also backed Businge’s motion arguing that the Bagungu have happily lived in the Kingdom.

On his part, Goodman Farouk, the councillor for Nyangahya division called for dialogue between the Bagungu and Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom in order to resolve their grievances instead of seceding.

He noted that it’s not only Buliisa that has been marginalized by the Kingdom.

”Masindi has also been marginalized, the kingdom has concentrated on the Hoima people leaving out other subjects, we are not happy and that’s why the Bagungu want to secede,” he said.

The Kingdom’s Communications Manager Francis Mugerwa who attended the council dismissed the claims of marginalization by the Bagungu saying the Kingdom treats all its districts equally.

He revealed that whenever there are opportunities in the Kingdom, they are publicly announced and the suitable candidates are picked from different districts that form it.

“In fact Buliisa has five ministers in the current Kingdom’s cabinet, the biggest number compared to the other districts in the Kingdom,” he said.

Mugerwa disclosed that they have tried to engage the Bagungu over their planned secession without success which he blamed on what he termed as a few individuals who are agitating for the secession for their own benefits.
Later speaker Kiirya put the matter to vote and the councilors unanimously voted against the planned Bugungu secession from Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom.
The other districts in the Kingdom that have passed similar resolutions rejecting the planned Bagungu secession include Kakumiro, Kibaale, Kikuube, Hoima City.
It is expected the reminder districts in the Kingdom will do a similar thing.
Who are Bagungu
The Bagungu are an indigenous tribe native to Uganda and totaling around 83,986, according to the 2014 population census.
They are the dominant in Buliisa district and spread in Hoima, Masindi districts and other parts of western.
The Bagungu are fishermen, farmers and hunters.

In Bushenyi—
Police in Bushenyi have one of their officers in custody for shooting one person dead and causing grievous harm on a suspect.

The officer has been identified as No.032 SPC George Bishaniko attached to Kyabugimbi police station in Kyabugimbi subcounty Bushenyi district.

SP Martial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson narrates that Bishaniko yesterday 17/11/2022 went out at round 03:40PM to arrest one Kabosa Bafa for Bar breaking and theft.

The police mouthpiece adds that the officer found the suspect with his gang playing cards while smoking opium in a rented house in Nyakibonera Trading Center, Kyeigomba B Cell, Kyeigomba Parish in Bushenyi District.

According to Tumusiime, when the suspect saw the Police constable, he moved out with a sharp panga with an intention of cutting officer which prompted him to shoot his leg but unfortunately the bullet went through and hit one of his accomplices Naboth Kyabonero on the left side of the stomach and died instantly.

The Scene was visited by a team of detectives, Uniformed personnels and SOCO led by the Bushenyi Central police station OC ASP Peter Nyombi where they found the body of the deceased lying on the mat in the house where they had been playing cards, smoking and drinking waragi, Tumusiime says.

The injured suspect was rushed to Kyabugimbi health centre IV, body taken Kabwohe H/C IV pending postmortem while No.032 SPC Bishaniko George was arrested,
