EARLY MARRIAGES IN KIGEZI REGION IRK LEGISLATORS

KABALE DISTRICT
The Kabale Municipality MP Hon Dr Nicholas Thaddeus Kamara together with the Rubanda District Woman MP Hon Prossy Akampurira Mbabazi have joined efforts to condemn early marriages in Kigezi sub region.
They revealed this on saturday in a 4 day annual Christ the king parish youth conference which was held at Kabale Municipal playground in Kabale municipality saying that early marriages have contributed to many challenges among the married couples.
Addressing the youths at Kabale Municipal playground, the Kabale Municipality MP Hon Dr Nichols Thaddeus Kamara condemned early marriages in Kigezi sub region saying that it puts a girl child at a risk of having stillbirth, delivery of deformed children and that it has also contributed to producing of many children in a family despite this economic crisis.
“Keeping at school prevents you from producing many children” Kamara urged the youths
He further reminded the youths about the presence of HIV/Aids. He added that HIV/Aids patients have faced stigmatization despite them taking their medicine
The Rubanda District Woman MP Hon Akampurira Mbabazi Prossy who doubles as the commissioner of parliament showed concern on youth harassing their parents in kigezi sub region.
She added that she has on several occasions received reports from parents about children harassing them.
Akampurira rooted for Discipline, respect, cleanliness among the youths if they are to be successful in this world saying that even if one is the best performer in class but without discipline he or she goes nowhere.
She showed concern on how most of the youths are no longer respecting the elderly.
