Bushenyi Ishaka Municipal council speaker Evaristo Rwambuga has revealed that no council meetings will conduct business until the mayor makes a reshuffle to fire the censored deputy mayor Joel Nkore and replace the secretary for finance who left the council.

The speaker said this yesterday in an exclusive interview with www.mknewslink.com managing editor in Bushenyi town.

The interview with www.mknewslink.com followed the abortion of the council meeting after the majority councilors and the speaker stormed out of the council meeting claiming that the mayor has not been respecting them among others.

The speaker also added that the mayor and the technical team don’t implement resolutions passed by the council.

Speaker Rwambuga added that he adjourned the council up to 7th march 2023 for the mayor to make a reshuffle and implement abandoned council resolutions.

He vowed that if by 7th the mayor has not done reshuffles, still the council meeting will not take place.

Efforts to reach the mayor for a comment were fertile as yesterday he was in public accounts committee meeting in Mbarara, and for today he didn’t pick www.mknewslink.com calls.

Kabale District Authorities in partnership with the ministry of Lands Housing and Urban Development, have launched commenced the processes developing the District Physical development plan.

The Physical Development Act 2020 declares the entire country a planning area and mandates all cities, municipalities, town or urban councils and trading centers in rural areas, to possess a detailed physical development plan intended to address specific development planning problems of a specific and respective area.

According to the Kabale district physical planner, Emmanuel Turyagyenda, the plan will be undertaken by technocrats from the ministry of lands, housing and urban development in conjunction with the district local government.

He added that the entire process of drafting the plan will require over 300million shillings.

The Kabale District Natural resources officer, Henry Tumwesigye, says that the District physical development plan, once completed will help to realize well planned and sustainable developments in the District.

In accordance with the Physical Planning Act (PPA) 2010. He also adds that the process of developing the plan will last 9 months.

The Kabale Deputy District Resident Commissioner, Ronald Bakak said that since the ministry of local government has not guided on the boundaries of the proposed Kabale City, the District will go on with the idea of undertaking the development of the physical plan.

Swaibu Mutaka, a physical engineer attached to the ministry of Lands, housing and Urban Development said that the development plan will be adjusted if the government makes a final pronouncement about the Kabale city.

The Kabale District LC5 Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheija, noted that the physical Development Plan will help district leaders and other decision makers on making informed decisions about the social, economic, and physical developments to be undertaken in the district.

The process of drafting the physical development plan will include stakeholder engagement, data collection, situation analysis, drafting of the plan and its presentation, monitoring and evaluation of implementation and approval by the ministry

Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Cross Cultural Foundation of Uganda (CCFU), an NGO that focuses on the promotion of cultural preservation.

The MOU was signed by the Kingdom Prime Minister Owek. Andrew Byakutaga and Ms. Barbra Babwetera, the CCFU Executive Director on Tuesday 28/02/2023 at the Kingdom Offices in Hoima City.

The MOU will be operational for three years with a possibility of extending the same after the two parties consenting.

Under the MOU, Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom and CCFU agreed to work together to protect and preserve important cultural sites and intangible heritage in Bunyoro, promote public-private partnerships in environmental & wildlife conservation.

In the same MOU, the duo agreed to strengthen cultural systems, enhance intercultural dialogue to foster social cohesion and harmony, utilize cultural knowledge and resources to enhance development initiatives and to work with young people to promote and appreciate their culture.

The Kingdom Prime Minister Andrew Byakutanga said that they welcome partnerships that support and complement the kingdom’s efforts to fulfil its core mandate of preserving culture and the overall objective of improving the quality of life of the people.

Byakutaga said oil developments and other changes are impacting on the culture of Bunyoro, adding that the Kingdom will enhance working with the government and other development partners to protect culture amidst the various developments in the region.

He appreciated CCFU and Total Energies for accepting to partner with the Kingdom as per the MOU.

Ms. Barbra Babwetera, the CCFU Executive Director commended Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom for building on the previous support and collaboration which the kingdom has been having with CCFU.

CCFU previously supported the renovation of some cultural sites and documentation of some cultural practices.
