Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu has today 12th March consecrated and enthroned Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe as the sixth Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese under the Church of Uganda at Emmanuel Cathedral, Kinyansano in Rukungiri district.

Bishop Asiimwe was elected by the Church of Uganda House of Bishops, while sitting at Lweza Training Conference Centre on January 18th, as the new Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese.

Bishop Asiimwe was born on April 24, 1965 in Mparo, Rukiga district.

He became Born Again on January 8, 1988, after a night of heavy alcohol drinking when he heard the Lord say to him the next morning: “Onesmus, don’t you know that your body is the Temple of God?”

Archbishop Kazimba handed over the pastoral staff, Bible, church of Uganda Constitution and canons to Bishop Asiimwe and gave him a go head to read, Exhortation and doctrine them.

The preacher of the day, the 7th Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Rt Rev Henry Luke Orombi asked Bishop Asiimwe to be a good shepherd, stay away from political engagements, be an example, be humble, put trust in God and serve Christians diligently.

Bishop Asiimwe revealed to advocate for strong children and youth programs to empower them to resist worldly temptations and false promises.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the Chief guest, in his message delivered by Vice President Rtd Maj Jessica Alupo said that there is a need for Revival revamp in communities and Church.

President Museveni also donated a brand new car Prado UBN020to Bishop Asiimwe to help him do the ministry of Evangilism.

Bishop Asiimwe has replaced Rt Rev Benon Magezi who succumbed to Covid-19 in 2021.

Bushenyi Ishaka municipal school heads want the government to provide their schools with computers and other internet related gadgets used for registration.

The head teachers, explained that Uganda National Examinations Board UNEB demands pupils and students to registered for Exams online while most of the schools can’t access internet.

This was one of the concerns raised by municipal head teachers yesterday while receiving text books from Baryaruha foundation at Bushenyi Town School.

Ssali Hamidu Kyabalongo, the head teacher Prime Junior School noted with concern that schools usually get such services from internet cafes and this is likely to expose their passwords and confidential information into the hands of wrong elements.

Other concerns raised were; giving out iron sheets to some of the schools that are in bad state as well as increasing salaries for the teachers.

Textbooks were received by 54 municipal schools, both secondary and primary thus private and government owned.

In his speech counsel Marvin Baryaruha the founder of Baryaruha foundation asked for cooperation and teamwork from both government and private owned schools.

Dan Mugyenyi Kateera the municipal Education Officer assured counsel Baryaruha that Bushenyi Ishaka municipal schools shall continue to defeat Uganda in all exams through hard work but not by luck as some members of the public think.

Police in Rubanda District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 70 years old man identified as David Baryayanga a resident of Kakangaga village, in Kaara Parish in Muko Sub County.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists yesterday that the incident happened on Friday while the deceased was in a bar drinking, developed a quarrel with Byansi Brian alias Kadiji that led to a fight, but other drinkers stopped them.

The deceased was then escorted home by about 3 of his colleagues, but as they were going back, they heard him make an alarm that Kadiji was killing him.

They went back only to find him seriously injured on the head and he insisted that he would go to the hospital in the morning but by morning he was found in a critical condition and before he could be moved to the Health Center for medical attention he eventually died.

Maate said that Police was notified by Mujuni Bathelemau the area LC 1 chairperson and the scene was visited by a team led by the DPC Barugahare Abel and postmortem examination was done and Byansi was arrested to help in investigations.

A case of murder was registered at Rubanda Central Police Station under reference number CRB 096/2023 to help make a follow up of the case

It was a somber mood yesterday 11th March 2023 at Rwebishuri cell, Kakiika ward, Mbarara city the home of the late justice Kenneth Kakuru as he was being laid to his final rest.

Justice Kakuru’s body was lowered into the grave at 4:00 as it was witnessed by his family, friends and thousands of mourners.

Alphonse Owiny-Dollo the chief justice who was also the chief mourner applauded the former justice for being an educationist. 2He implored the entire community of Mbarara city to embrace education as a way of fighting poverty.

The president in a written statement read by Justice Alphonse Owiny-Dollo said Justice Kakuru dedicated his life to helping Ugandans attain Justice in courts of law.

Both Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo and his deputy Justice Richard Buteera described Justice Kenneth Kakuru as a simple professional man who was easy to work with.

Kakuru has been known as a no nonsense judge owing to his judgements and other court decisions.

For example, in 2018, he gave a dissenting judgment nullifying removal of age limits out of the Constitution.

Justice Kakuru who begun by reciting the country’s history right from the ‘reign of terror’ of Idi Amin to the current NRM government quoted President Museveni’s 1986 speech where he promised democratic governance, change in quality of politics, and people power.

In his judgment, Kakuru explained that the MPs consulted very few people, a size which was not representative of the actual number of voters as registered by the Electoral Commission during the previous 2016 elections.

Justice Kenneth Kakuru 65, succumbed to prostate cancer which was in advanced stages at Agha Khan Hospital In Nairobi, Kenya on Tuesday last week.

The deceased is survived by a widow, six children and several dependents.

For long, it has been in the corridors of the public that LIGHT SS NYABUBARE cheat’s exams at both O level and A level.

While some indeed always believed this, but other members of the public thought that this was a malicious move to tarnish the name of the school.

However, the truth is finally here,53 students of Light SS (O level) had their exams withheld for malpractice (Refer to Last Year’s O level results,2022).

The Said students have now been invited to Kampala to face UNEB tribunal.

UNEB has also invited the Headteacher of the school Mr. Nimwesiga Laban and the Director of studies Asimwe Benards also all the invigilators that invigilated at Light SS have been invited to face the same tribunal.

The paper that raised dust most was chemistry practical paper 545/4 where all the 53 students are said to have had the same answers, same everything, while others mistakenly confused their index numbers with those they were sharing answers with.

They have been made to depart for Kampala using different cars, stationed at Kabwohe, they feared using a single means of transport for fear of suspicion from the public. They have set off today from Kabwohe.

It is also said that the Director of the school has wired 60M shillings to the account of the Head teacher for use in trying to cover up what may cause disaster to the school.

Lately the Director has been traveling to kampala to meet members of the tribunal with little success and hopes to use money on the last minute, to save the image of the school.

When u see some schools performing like they do, claiming to perform academic miracles, know that there are dirty hidden games like these.

Worst of all such schools turn to their sister schools which work hard to get genuine results, and accuse them of failing students.
