RT. REV.ONESIMUS ASIIMWE DECLARED SIXTH BISHOP OF NORTH KIGEZI DIOCESE

Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu has today 12th March consecrated and enthroned Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe as the sixth Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese under the Church of Uganda at Emmanuel Cathedral, Kinyansano in Rukungiri district.
Bishop Asiimwe was elected by the Church of Uganda House of Bishops, while sitting at Lweza Training Conference Centre on January 18th, as the new Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese.
Bishop Asiimwe was born on April 24, 1965 in Mparo, Rukiga district.
He became Born Again on January 8, 1988, after a night of heavy alcohol drinking when he heard the Lord say to him the next morning: “Onesmus, don’t you know that your body is the Temple of God?”
Archbishop Kazimba handed over the pastoral staff, Bible, church of Uganda Constitution and canons to Bishop Asiimwe and gave him a go head to read, Exhortation and doctrine them.
The preacher of the day, the 7th Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Rt Rev Henry Luke Orombi asked Bishop Asiimwe to be a good shepherd, stay away from political engagements, be an example, be humble, put trust in God and serve Christians diligently.
Bishop Asiimwe revealed to advocate for strong children and youth programs to empower them to resist worldly temptations and false promises.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the Chief guest, in his message delivered by Vice President Rtd Maj Jessica Alupo said that there is a need for Revival revamp in communities and Church.
President Museveni also donated a brand new car Prado UBN020to Bishop Asiimwe to help him do the ministry of Evangilism.
Bishop Asiimwe has replaced Rt Rev Benon Magezi who succumbed to Covid-19 in 2021.
