POLICE NAMES TWO PEOPLE WHO PERISHED IN KANUNGU FATAL ACCIDENT

The Police have released the names of the two people who died in an accident at Nyamwegabira along the Kihihi – Kanungu Highway.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate identified the dead as 20-year-old Natumanya Naboth a Boda boda rider also a resident of Kihihi Town Council in Kanungu District and one of his passengers, Natukunda Marvin aged 18 years, a casual worker and a resident of Kikudamukama village in Kihihi Town council.
Maate described the accident as harilious and also involved motor vehicle registration number UBF 137P belonging to CHICO Construction Company and driven by Ssenyonga Simon and another one registration number no T737DZX driven by Magezi Ali also driver of CHICO.
Maate said that the two deceased victims were travelling on motorcycle registration number UFL 221S ridden by Namanya Naboth carrying two passengers, one who survived with minor injuries but his names have not been established.
It’s reported that both motor vehicles and motor cycle were from the same direction of Kanungu and when they reached at Nyamwegabira the driver of Truck no UBF 137P knocked down the motorcycle from behind and while still down on the road, the driver of Truck registration number T737DZX came from behind and stepped on them leaving the rider and one of the passengers dead.
Maate said that the Police arrived at the scene immediately and retrieved to Kihihi Health Center IV mortuary for postmortem.
Examination and the drivers of the trucks Ssenyonga and Magezi were arrested and are being held at Kihihi Police station.
The case was registered under reference TAR 09/2023 to help in investigations.
