KANUNGU 65-YEAR-OLD MAN SUFFOCATES TO DEATH OVER LANDSLIDES

Police in Kanungu District is investigating circumstances under which a 65years old died over suffocation as a result of a landslide.
According to report released by Police, an incident report of death was Reported to Rutenga police post by Chairman LC 1 of Rwakatunguru cell Kabarebe Deus 50, in Kanungu district that Mugisha Peter 65, a herdsman resident of the same address, died due to suffocation as a result of landslide.
It’s alleged the victim had gone to graze cattle on Thursday, and at around 5:30Pm, rain found him in the field where he took shelter under the cave with his cattle, unfortunately he was covered dead by the landslide together with some of his cattle from therein.
According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, it is the surviving cattle that made his family members suspicious when they went back home minus him.
Maate told journalists that the scene of the crime was visited, through community involvement, the body was recovered plus two dead cows, one goat and one sheep.
He added that the body was handed over to relatives for a decent burial.
