Aponye’s body arrives at St Luke catholic church Muhanga parish under kabale diocese in Rukiga District

Aponye died last week in afotal accident at itojo along Mbarara _Kabale on his way to home in Rukiga

Appolo Nyegamehe popularity knowns as Aponye was born on 12ths August 1957 in Muhanga Rukiga District.

His parents were late Mr. Peter Turikyarukye and late Salome Kibatenga.

They were born 16chidren and now Four are surviving Namely George Bazongoza, Nzaniya Tibanyenda, Roy Kashuro and Asiimwe Judith.

Aponye was the last born and never got to see his father who passed on before he was born.

Aponye was married to vangi Mugabirwe Nyegamehe on 11th November 1978 and were blessed with 7children .

He further had another family with the late Monica Kakwezi Nyegamehe and were blessed with 5children.

Aponye stated business at a tender age of 10yrs doing casual jobs and selling roasted G.Nute, peas and Maize in Muhanga to sustain himself having born an orphan.

At the age of 16yrs, he got a job to work for famous businessman kirasha Jonathan who was trading in marchadise with Rwanda Businessmen with duty to carry the goods.

On one of his errands,he met Mr. Kabunzya of Rwamabondo Ntungamo who extended some “working Capital” in appreciation of his hard work and encouraged him to trade alongside his job with Kirasha.
They would carry merchandise on “the head ” from as far as kajara to Rwanda.

He mastered the art of trade especially with the Rwanda Business community and by 1978,he was already independent.
He bought his first G_Touring car to help transport merchandise to the Rwanda boarder and later on the lorry In 1980.

In the 1980’s during the famous “magyendo era he capitalized on the situation and worked tirelessly to grow his business getting coffee from kitagata to Rwanda.
He be-friended so many in the banking sector who helped him grow the business.

He established business in Kampala and stayed at Mengo where he accommodated several other businessmen from kabale and Kigali.
He traded in cement at goods shed clocktower.

In 1989, he formerly registered a limited company “Aponye (U) ltd coined from his name’s “Apolo Nyegamahe” to deal in grain trading. He opened stores at FIBA ( Foods and beverages) industrial area to dry and clean grain.

He opened offices at Nkrumah road and delt in cargo transportation and acquired a fleet of trailers in 1998.

He expanded grain trading to markets like world food programme with the vision to be the largest trading company in grain sector.
He established grain processing plant in Nalukolongo Kampala in 2005, Kyazanga Factory 2010and now Mubende Factory in 2015.

In 2008 he expanded business to trading with south Sudan Government in Juba dealing in food stuffs.
He created several synergies and partnerships with Ugandan companies like Afrokai, Kibungo Enterprises. Though there were setbacks in Juba, his treasured friend Chris Kaijuka will continue to pursue his interest.

Aponye has since become a household Name with several products including Apo Laundry Soap,Kitamu cooking Oil, Ugali Maize Flour, pro _pheneBags , and ApoJust Petro stations.

He also did real estate in Kampala starting with Aponye Hotel,Aponye City Mall, and Now Aponye Complex Ntinda

He established Rukiga shopping center at Muhanga Town

Ntungamo District Woman Member of Parliament Hopefull, Honorable Kamayangi Gloria, has raised concerns about the need for the government to regulate the DNA process in order to protect the well-being of Ugandan children.

Gloria’s remarks come in response to recent discussions surrounding DNA issues on various platforms, where some men have experienced severe emotional distress, leading to cases of suicide and silent suffering.

In an interview with our reporter, the aspiring legislator expressed her fears that if the issue of DNA testing is not properly managed, innocent children may become unintended victims. She highlighted the potential consequences, such as children being forced out of their homes and schools, which could result in an increase in street children and involvement in undesirable activities.

Gloria emphasized the importance of establishing paternity, as it enables individuals to secure legal rights related to child support, child custody, social security benefits, and inheritance. She appealed to the government to recognize the significance of this matter and provide guidance on how to address such issues effectively.

“While establishing paternity is crucial for various legal rights, we must also consider the potential negative impact on innocent children. They could be displaced from their homes and schools, leading to an increase in street children, as well as the rise of criminal activities. I kindly request the government to address this matter seriously and educate the public on the best approaches to handle DNA testing,” said Kamayangi Gloria.

Yusufu Muziransa, the senior information officer at Uganda’s Equal Opportunity Commission, had previously confirmed to our reporter that the commission believes the DNA testing process should be regulated. The commission is concerned about the increasing number of vulnerable individuals, especially children, who learn that their presumed fathers are not their biological fathers.

Muziransa added that individuals who conceal the truth about their children’s parentage from their partners could face legal consequences in the future, such as being taken to court and charged with misrepresentation and obtaining resources or money through false pretenses.

“Every revelation that emerges from DNA testing creates more vulnerable individuals by the day. Imagine being told that the person you grew up calling your father is not your biological father. The psychological trauma inflicted on these children is immense, leading some to drop out of school and others to end up on the streets, while families

The Kabale territorial police are currently searching for Ambrose Tumwekwase, a 28-year-old suspect, in connection with the alleged murder of James Reakatarira, a 30-year-old resident of Omururinda village, Kicumbi parish, Kamuganguzi sub-county, Kabale district.

The incident occurred after the suspect discovered Reakatarira engaging in a sexual act with Tumwekwase’s wife in their bed.

According to reports, the deceased, Reakatarira, had been involved in a romantic relationship with Niwamanya Vian, the wife of the suspect, since 2022. While the suspect was aware of the affair, he had not caught them in the act until recently.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region police spokesperson, addressed the media today and provided details of the incident that On July 9, 2023, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the suspect discovered the deceased and his wife returning home together. Tumwekwase followed them and caught them engaging in a sexual act on his bed inside his own house.

ASP Maate described how the suspect, armed with a machete, proceeded to attack the deceased, inflicting fatal wounds to his head, hands, and legs. The victim bled to death at the scene, while Vian, the wife, managed to escape and inform her parents-in-law.

Maate further explained that on July 10, 2023, James Kabalemesa, the area chairperson, received the information and promptly contacted the Kamuganguzi police post. The police officers responded to the incident and subsequently informed the Kabale Central Police Station.

Upon arrival, the police visited the crime scene, which was located in the suspect’s house. They conducted a thorough investigation and collected evidence.

Additionally, the wife of the prime suspect was apprehended to aid in the ongoing investigation. The body of the deceased was taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.

The murder case has been registered at Kamuganguzi police post in Kabale district under the reference number CRB 542/2023. The police will continue their inquiries into this tragic event.
