Police in Rukungiri district is investigating circumstances under which a hit-and-run incident occurred along Republic Road in Rukungiri Municipality, Rukungiri District.

The incident resulted in the untimely death of Fricano Rwakanika, a 67-year-old resident of Nyakayinga cell in Reamugoma parish, Ruhinda sub-county, Rukungiri District.

The accident involved an unidentified motorcycle and Mr. Rwakanika, who was walking along the road, facing the roundabout. A speeding motorcyclist struck him from behind, tragically ending his life.

Elly Maate, the spokesperson for Kigezi Region Police, confirmed that the police responded swiftly to the scene, documenting the incident.

The body of the deceased was transported to Rwakabengo Health Centre 3 for a postmortem examination and later released to his grieving family.

Maate also revealed that an investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway, with efforts being made to identify and locate the vehicle involved

Police in kibaale district have arrested and detained two family members all residents of Muzizi LC1, kitutu parish in karama sub county for allegedly murdering their father Benedicto Kato 63 years over land related issues.

The suspects are Mary Komuhimbo 34 years and Twinomujuni Nyamutale 40years.

Julius Allan Hakiza the Albertine region police spokesperson explains that its alleged the deceased was attacked by unknown when he had gone out at a round 2:00am to easy himself. He was beaten and cut.

Hakiza adds that when his wife Gertrude Kobusinge heard, she came out to see what the problem was but she was also beaten and even the children who were in the house were also beaten.

He said the mission of these unknown people was to kill the whole family, both the man and the woman were left unconscious and taken to kyegegwa hospital where the man died and the woman was referred to mubende hospital.

Hakiza said the two family members were arrested because they had a long time been fighting over land with their father since he was a polygamous man.

Police in the Albertine region have warned the general public against the ongoing bomb plants in the county and be on alert and report any suspicious objects in their areas.

While speaking to www.mknewslink.com reporter yesterday in his office, Allan Julius Hakiza revealed that the terrorists are targeting places like churches, mosques and many other public places and as security they have decided to strengthen security.

Hakiza warned the public against picking objects they don’t know or report anything they do not understand in their area to police.

He said what happened on Sunday in Kampala at miracle center church does not exonerate Albertine region thus they have decided tighten security around the region.

Police in Kisoro are actively pursuing suspects involved in the alleged rape and murder of Chimanaizanye Tereza, a 60-year-old resident of Rubona Village, Bubuye Parish, Nyundo Sub-County, Kisoro District.

This tragic incident unfolded on the night of September 3, 2023, in the same Rubona Village. Tereza was last seen alive at a local bar on that fateful night.

Her lifeless body was discovered the next morning, on September 4, 2023, at the same location.

Elly Maate, the spokesperson for Kigezi Region Police, stated that Didas Ndagijimana reported this distressing incident.

Following this report, a murder case was officially filed, and a comprehensive investigation was promptly launched. The crime scene was thoroughly examined and documented.

Furthermore, a postmortem examination was carried out at the scene, and the necessary arrangements for the deceased’s burial were made.

Maate stressed that the victim had suffered both sexual assault and homicide in this horrifying act
