KISORO: POLICE OFFICER’S WIFE HANGS SELF

Kisoro district is currently gripped by a tragic incident as local authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the suicide of a 25-year-old woman.
According to Asp Elly Maate, the spokesperson for the Kigezi Sub-region police, the deceased has been identified as Sarah Narukwanga, who was the wife of Samuel Imalingati, a police officer serving in the FFU department and attached to the Nyarusiza police post.
The incident reportedly took place on the morning of Monday, September 18, 2023. Samuel Imalingati left his wife and their one-year-old baby at home to prepare breakfast, and he briefly stepped away to a nearby location to read some books. Upon returning approximately 30 minutes later, he made a horrifying discovery: his wife had hanged herself in a wrapper and was unresponsive.
Maate stated that Samuel Imalingati immediately notified his fellow police officers about the tragic incident. In response, officers from the Kisoro Police Station rushed to the scene to ensure its preservation and to initiate a thorough investigation.
The district Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) and a team of detectives meticulously examined the scene, collecting crucial forensic evidence. The body of the deceased was then transported to the Kisoro mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Maate disclosed to reporters that inquiries are currently underway to determine the reasons behind this heartbreaking incident. The case of suicide has been officially registered at Kisoro Central Police Station under reference number DEF 11/2023.
