HOMOSEXUALITY IN MBARARA CITY: BUSINESSMAN ARRESTED FOR SODOMIZING A 20 YEAR OLD YOUTH

A businessman has been arrested by police in Mbarara city for allegedly sexually assaulting a 20-year old man.
The suspect in custody has been identified as Nelson Tumushabe 28 a vendor in Mbarara central market and a resident of lower cell, Nyamityobora ward in Mbarara city.
It’s alleged that the suspect sexually assaulted a man aged 20-years on the night of 9th.october,2023 which prompted the victim to report the matter at mbarara central police station yesterday, Tuesday where inquiries commenced leading to the arrest of Tumushabe.
The victim who spoke to the press on the condition of anonymity revealed that he met a one Tumushabe on independence day and thus promised to help him find a job .He added that the suspect further invited him to sleep over at his rented house before forcing him into sexual intercourse which is against the order of nature.
Muhammad Mugerwa the landlord of the rentals where the suspect has been staying condemned the act and revealed that the suspect had spent three months on his rentals.
SP Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Regional Police Spokesperson said that police takes matters of sodomy and human trafficking very serious and they are doing everything in their power to ensure that justice is availed.
He added that the victim is currently receiving medical support and counseling from providers of support to survivors of sexual violence.
A team of police detectives from Mbarara central police station carried out a search on the suspect’s rental house and a number of exhibits including; condoms and lubricants were recovered.
