Police in Mbarara district are investigating circumstances under which a 24-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his friend after developing a misunderstanding in a bar on Friday.

The deceased identified as Reagan Turinawe ,was allegedly murdered by John Paul Turyasingura at the suspect’s residence in Akashanda cell, Bukiiro Sub county, Mbarara district.
SP Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Regional Police Spokesperson disclosed that the duo developed a misunderstanding while at bar in Akashanda Trading centre,but later left together at around 1pm to the house of the suspect, who picked a panga from the house and cut the throat of the deceased which caused profusely bleeding and thus died.

Kasasira explained that police responded to the scene of crime, documented it and conveyed the body of the deceased to Mbarara regional referral hospital for a postmortem report.

The murder weapon was recovered and exhibited.

Kasasira added that police has arrested the suspect to help police in investigation

Mbarara district authorities are stranded after failing to trace over 20 land titles from it’s inventory.

Mbarara district leaders have raised the alarm over missing certificates of land tittles for 20 plots of land owned by the district.

David Muhwezi the Chief Administrative Officer, Mbarara district is questioning how the land tittles of public properties got lost.

The Mbarara District inventory Indicates that the properties whose land titles went missing include the land housing the current Mbarara District offices in Kamukuzi

Muhwezi explained that out of the 37 plots which the District has ,20 plots are now missing

However in his remarks,Didas Tabaro the Mbarara District boss accused the former district accounting officer ,Edward Kasagala for failing to take care of the land and instead presenting photocopies of the missing certificates of land titles during his handover in July .

He said that the District council passed a resolution directing kasagala him to meet the costs of making special titles.

Tabaro explained that the District has now started securing some the plots on some pieces of land.
