VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE FOR RUTOOKYE TOWN CLERK, DULLY REJECTED

Leaders in Rutookye Town Council in Mitooma District are demanding the immediate removal of the town clerk,Henry Natukwatsa.The leaders accuse the town clerk of mismanaging shs.90 million meant for the grading of 16KM roads in the town council.
Natukwatsa’s troubles with leaders started this financial year when he reportedly introduced unlawful taxes on traders in the town council.He Is accused of conniving with some actors in the town council to endorse the 2023/24 budget estimates and hiding vital information from the Town council leaders.
Local leaders led by Remigious Tuhimbise and Charity Turinawe both Councillors representing Rutookye Town council accuse the Town clerk of failure to account for government’s money and failing government programs in the area.
Traders who intimated to Journalists faulted the Town council leadership of imposing overwhelming taxes on them yet there are no visible development in the area.
When contacted,Benon Karyeija the district boss explained that the traders have the authority to appeal against the taxes in question and asked them to calm down.
He further revealed that his office has not received any complaints levied against the officer(Town clerk).
