Bushenyi district local government will celebrate 50 years of existence on july 5, 2024 with a series of activities from July 1, to july 5, 2024.

According to the vice chairman of the organizing committee, Dr. Muramuzi Innocent they will plant trees from the boarder of Bushenyi and sheema districts up to the boarder with Rubirizi district.

The function is being spearheaded by Make Bushenyi Great Again [MBUGA] civic organization. MBUGA has civilian army ranks from the lowest to General.

The above and many others were revealed during a press conference held yesterday at PEAK HOTEL in Bushenyi town.

Dr. Muramuzi added that their budget is 79 million and will come from citizens of Bushenyi district.

He added that they will hold debates in universities in Bushenyi district and support the school of the disabled in Ruhandagazi– Bushenyi primary school.

The RDC Bushenyi Mr. Robert Atuhairwe noted that 50 years of Bushenyi district’s existence is worth celebrating and therefore called up the citizens to embrace it.

The district chairman Jafari Basajabalaba congratulated the people of Bushenyi on this milestone. He added the chief guest will be president Yoweri Museveni.

He noted that the function will be held at Bushenyi stadium in Bushenyi district.

Bushenyi district was curved out of the then Ankole district in 1974 by president Idda Amin Dada. It comprised of Ntungamo district, Rubirizi, Buhweju, Mitooma, Sheema and Bushenyi.

Rwenzururu King (Omusinga) Charles Wesley Iremangoma has encouraged young girls to embrace education and adopt the good cultural values for the development of cultural institution.

According to Omusinga, the current generation requires everyone to attain skills and promote good morals so that they become good citizens.

He sounded the remarks yesterday while addressing a section of Bakira Clan members from Rubirizi District who had paid him a visit at his Kamaiba based Royal Palace in Kasese town.

Led by Mr. John Mumbere Baruti Bagonza, the delegation visited the Rwenzururu King purposely to thank him for giving a scholarship to their daughter who is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography at Ernest Cook University –Mengo in Kampala.

The Omusinga subsequently observed need for the girl children to get married at an appropriate age and after making the right decisions and choices.

He also implored the parents to fulfill their responsibilities of looking after their children in a good manner including taking them to school and ensuring that they complete their studies.

About the scholarships, the Omusinga appealed to the beneficiaries to utilize them appropriately as well as being productive enough in order for government to realize the purpose for which it is giving out the money.

Eva Biira, a 22 –year-old daughter to Mr. Bagonza, who was given a government scholarship through Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu, told our reporter that the only task ahead of her is to read her books since no one demands tuition fee from her.

The Kabale Grade I Magistrates court has committed to high court , a 31 year old primary school teacher, for trial over the alleged defilement and impregnating of his 15 year old pupil.

Court that was presided over by His worship Julius Mutabazi heard from the prosecution led by Rachael Nkwanzi that Augustine Twinobusingye in September 2023 while at Crane preparatory in Rubanda district had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl aged 15 years who was his pupil contrally to section 129 sub section 3 and 4 (a) of the penal code act.

Prosecution told court that Twinobusingye who was a teacher at crane preparatory school on several occasions would give the victim (Names withheld) who was a primary seven pupil some homework which she would take to him for marking at his home and he would later defile her.
Court heard that in December 2023 after breaking off for holidays, The victim’s mother discovered from village rumors that her daughter was pregnant but on sending her for medical checkup, the nurse colluded with Twinobusingye and reported that the victim was not pregnant.
The plan to secretly carry out an abortion at Hamurwa health center IV was foiled by health workers who informed the victim’s mother,

When the case was reported to the head teacher of Crane Preparatory school, Burazio Turihohabwe The suspect disappeared and was arrested later when he resurfaced asking to be given back his job.

Prosecution led by Nkwanzi told court that investigations are over as she asked court that The suspect be committed to high court for trial.
