Minister of ICT and National Guidance Dr. Chris Baryomunsi has revealed that among the resolutions cabinet made during a one week retreat in Kyankwanzi was to deal decisively with district/city service commissions because they are absolutely corrupt.
Dr.Baryomunsi said this last evening July 15, 2024 during an interview with the media in Kampala Uganda.
He noted that they learnt that the public has truly lost confidence in these commissions therefore they will be handled by government wholesomely.
He added that whether it means changing the law that govern these commissions, it will be done.
In the 1995 constitution, CA delegates created district service commissions to ease big workload from public service commission and remained with ministries and government agencies.
Minister Baryomunsi told the media that district/city service commissions are openly selling jobs to Ugandans.
District/ city service commissions members are nominated by the district chairmen/city mayors approved by the councilors and appointed by public service commission.
They are normally 5 members and the chairperson is full time whereas the other 4 members are not. They server a term of 4 years renewable once.
