Over 2,170 Primary Seven pupils have failed the 2024 mock exams in Kabale District.

According to the results released on Wednesday at the Kabale District Rukiiko Hall, out of the 3,224 pupils who sat for the exams, 1,607 were placed in Division U, 565 in Division 4, 281 in Division 3, 614 in Division 2, and only 96 pupils managed to score in Division 1.

Kabale District Education Officer, Tumwijukye Moses Bwengye, noted an improvement compared to the previous year when 2,522 pupils had failed. However, he expressed concern that the poor performance is still largely due to increasing absenteeism among both teachers and students, a situation he strongly condemned.

Bwengye emphasized that they are hopeful for better results in the upcoming Primary Leaving Exams (PLE) and called for stronger collaboration between parents, teachers, and students to improve academic outcomes.

Robert Mugabe, the Kabale District Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, vowed to take firm action against headteachers of underperforming schools, including potential demotion or suspension. He stressed that district officials will not allow the education sector to deteriorate under ineffective leadership.

In Bushenyi—

Police in Bushenyi are investigating circumstances under which a 52-year-old woman was murdered in cold blood.

The deceased is identified as Janiva Kyomugisha a resident of Ruharo central cell, Ruharo ward central Division Bushenyi Ishaka municipality Bushenyi district.

The lifeless body of Kyomugisha commonly known as Kyomu was yesterday 11^th Sept.2024 morning found lying along the road from Omuruhita trading Centre to St. Augustine SS., according to Panklasio Ndyanabo, the area chairman LCI.

SSP Martial Tumusiime, the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson told www.mknewslink.com reporter that police sniffer dog introduced to the scene picked scent and tracked up to the deceased’s residence and two were arrested.

According to Tumusiime, postmortem done at Ishaka Adventist hospital observed that the deceased had strangulation marks in the neck, soft tissue injury on the right frontal aspect, burst internal vessels of the face and neck.

He added that there was no sign of struggle at the scene which gives an impression that the deceased could have been killed from somewhere else and her body carried to where it was found.

She will be buried today at her ancestral home in Ruharo central cell, Ruharo ward central Division Bushenyi Ishaka municipality Bushenyi district.

In Bushenyi—

Bushenyi district public accounts committee PAC yesterday chased twice the district Engineer Barnabas Mbonimpa Kiiza after he failed to account for one billion shillings meant for roads.

The committee chaired by Kamadhi Muhammed from Kyamuhunga town council told the media after the hectic day that the internal and external auditors queried the fake accountabilities provided by Eng. Mbonimpa and asked PAC to investigate him so that he vomits the money.

The roads that are in poor shape according to Johnson Nagasha are in Kyeizooba, Bumbaire, Kyabugimbi, Ruhumuro, Bitooma whereas the money was released to work on them in the four quarters of last year.

Nagasha noted that they will ensure that Mbonimpa refunds the money or he is interdicted and demoted.

Mbonimpa has been Bushenyi district engineer since early 1990s. He was an engineer when greater Bushenyi still had Ntungamo as one of its counties.

The new Chief Administrative Officer Ms. Phionah Sanyu spent the whole day in PAC meeting looking at all the staff that had queries and she told www.mknewslink.com after the meeting that the new chapter must be started because she can’t allow to work in an environment where staff are corrupt.

The chairperson of the roads committee Hon. Annet Mugisha Katusiime resigned recently because of the mess in the roads sector orchestrated by Eng. Mbonimpa.

The supervisor of works in the department Eng. Katungi retired early this financial year and the member of the committee Nagasha told www.mknewslink.com that Katungi must come back and account for the one billion he spent with Mbonimpa.
