7 REV. DEACONS ORDAINED, 21 ELEVATED TO PRIESTHOOD IN KIGEZI

The diocese of Kigezi yesterday ordained 7 reverend deacons and 21 were elevated to priesthood.
The service was presided over by Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi at St Peter’s cathedral Rugarama in northern division of Kabale municipality.
The priests are Rev Frank Twikirize, Rev Dickson Otin Tukamushaba, Rev. Junior Tugumisirize, Rev. Stephenson Anyorekyire, Rev. Deborah Tukamushaba, Rev. Warren Akatwijuka, Rev. Timothy Niwamanya among others.
In his Sermon the Archdeacon of St. Barnabas Nkoma Archdeaconry in the Diocese of East Ruwenzori Rev. Can. Erasto Nemeyimana, emphasized the vital role priests play in spreading the word of God. He urged the ordained ministers to harness the power entrusted to them to preach the Gospel with conviction and passion.
He reminded the clergy of their sacred responsibility to serve as messengers of God’s love, hope, and redemption.
Speaking during the same service, the Rubanda District Woman Member of Parliament Prossy Akampurira Begumisa Mbabazi emphasized the importance of balancing spiritual growth with economic development challenging newly ordained priests to not only spread the Gospel but also to preach the Gospel of Work.
She encouraged the priests to join forces with the government in promoting a culture of hard work and household development stressing that economic empowerment is crucial for the well-being of individuals, families, and communities.
She passionately encouraged parents to take their responsibility seriously in ensuring their children attend school, emphasizing that education is the key to success.
She further noted that education is the foundation upon which individuals can build their dreams, acquire skills, and develop into productive citizens. She urged parents to prioritize their children’s education, recognizing that it is the most effective way to break the cycle of poverty and secure a prosperous future.
