Uganda Civil Aviation Authority has acquired two powerful firefighting machines based at Entebbe International Airport aimed at fighting fire outbreaks at the Airport.
This was revealed by the Director General UCAA Mr. Fred Bamwesigye to the minister of works and transport Gen.Katumba Wamala on oct.22nd 2024 at the Airport.
The two before launching the two firefighting machines addressed the press conference at Entebbe Airport .
Minister Katumba told the media that Entebbe International Airport has surpassed International Fire category 9.
He added that the two powerful firefighting machines with specialized chassis ability to carry a lot of water and form.
The Director General told the media that 72 staffs have been trained on how to use the machines and incase of any outbreak of fire at Entebbe International Airport.
He continued to say that the Aviation industry is changing tremendously and therefore staff, passengers and partners need to have specialized knowledge in most of the things.
Minister Gen Katumba Wamala congratulated the Director General of UCAA upon acquiring these powerful machines that will go long away to fight fire problems at the Entebbe International Airport.

The Director General PIBID Rev. Prof. Florence Muranga has hailed 14 banana cooperatives in Ankole for working hard to fight poverty and promote the better prices of banana growing ,sale and marketing .
She said this yesterday during the annual Banana Cooperatives meeting held at the main factory in Nyaruzinga Bushenyi District.
She noted that they want to promote banana growing in Northern Uganda because currently they have enough market for the processed banana and therefore they need more bananas to satisfy the market they have.
Prof Muranga added that Isingiro district will get a processing plant as well as Kirihura Sanga to ease on transportation of Bananas to the main factory in Bushenyi .
She went ahead to say that training of banana farmers in their cooperatives will continue and so far those trained are showing good results.
She also said that problems of climate change such as hailstorms, strong winds, drought among others are affecting banana production in Ankole and beyond.
According to the PIBID staff in charge of banana cooperatives Mr. Jingo , they have 24 registered banana cooperatives however some of them are doing well as others are still growing.
The banana cooperative leaders in their presentation noted that some of their previous challenges have been dealt with by PIBID like late payment of bananas, they said it has been worked on very well.
Bumbaire Banana cooperative society emerged the best cooperative society and was given a trophy and the certificate.
The deputy RDC Bushenyi Donanto Kasigazi called upon banana cooperative leaders to work hard and alleviate poverty from their communities.
He hailed the Director General PIBID for working hard and bringing the factory that employs over 1000 people who are able to earn a living for their families.

Mbarara District police have arrested two suspects on charges of torturing an 11-year-old girl, Patricia Ainembabazi, who sustained severe burns allegedly inflicted by her stepmother, Marion Atuhaire. The incident reportedly occurred on September 29, 2024, after Atuhaire accused Ainembabazi of eating a loaf of bread without permission.
Gloria Ngabirano, the head teacher of Rwamukondo Primary School, where Ainembabazi is a Primary Two student, revealed that the girl has not returned to school since the incident. The victim is now under the care of her biological mother.
Ainembabazi is the daughter of Patrick Ashaba and had been living with her stepmother, Atuhaire, in Rwamukondo Cell, Rubindi Town Council, Mbarara District.
ASP Amos Bentungura, the officer in charge of Rubindi Police Station, confirmed that both Atuhaire, 31, and Ashaba, 40, have been arrested and will face charges of aggravated torture. He noted that Atuhaire had been evading capture and was found hiding in Sheema District before being apprehended.
