As schools get nearer to the end of the 3rd term of the academic year , parents, especially men, have been challenged to build up good relationships with their children.
This call was made yesterday by executive director western Ankole civil society forum Appolo Lee Kakonge while officiating at the transition of top class pupils to primary level at parental care nursery and primary school held at school premises in Bushenyi town.
Kakonge noted that parents no longer do their responsibility of parenting leaving all responsibility to schools imploring parents to always have time for their children saying though schools now are doing it but aspect of moral and culture begins at home with parents.
He added that as parents welcome their children for holidays they should involve them in domestic work to keep them busy rather than letting them loiter around in trading centers.
Peninah Ampumuza the headteacher in charge of nursery section at parental care however challenged parents to monitor their children, involve them into domestic work and befriend them to enable them to share challenges as they have been doing while at school.
