PARENTAL CARE P/S BUSHENYI PARTICIPATING IN NATIONAL SPEECH AND DEBATE CHAMPIONSHIP 2024

The 12th National Speech and Debate Championship 2024 for both Primary and secondary schools has commenced at Kings College Buddo in Kampala.
The championship under the theme Transparency, Accountability and Anti corruption in commemoration of International Anti corruption day with an aim of creating a awareness on how corruption has changed society values to worse.
Speaking at grand opening Dr. Richard Irumba the Deputy Director National Curriculum Development Center said, debete is a tool for leadership and Development.
He asked all educational institutions to embrace vocational education which will equip learners with employable practical skills for future Development.
Dr. Iumba said they should tackle corruption through youth driven actions like empowering them as ambassadors against all kids social evils including corruption.
The western region is well represented by a number of both Primary and secondary schools including Parental care Primary School Bushenyi in the Primary category, Mbarara municipal School, Banya Tereza from Fort Portal.
Others are Ntare School, Mary Hill, Immaculate Heart Nyakibare in Rukungiri District and the secondary school.
It should noted that Parental care Primary School Bushenyi and St.Mary’s College Kisuubi are the defending champions in both Primary and secondary schools respectively.
The participants shared challenges with officials and leaders from the ministry of Justice and constitutional affairs, PPDA officials on possible ways of how the innovation of new technologies can brought on board to fight against corruption.
The competition is hosted by Kings College Buddo and the Parliament of Uganda and te final will beld on 13/12/2024 at Parliament.

TWO MEN COMMIT SUICIDE IN ONE WEEK IN KAGADI OVER LOANS

A 24-year old man has committed suicide by hanging in Muhorro town council Kagadi district over alleged family issues and failure to pay loans.

The deceased has been identified as Shalif Basobora,a resident of Muhorro central ward Muhorro town councilKagadi district.

He committed suicide in rental house using a bed sheet and his body was discovered by residents in the morning hours.

According to the Chairperson lc1Muhorro central cell  Omuhereza Tibesigwa omutaka said that it is alleged that the cause of the incident could have resulted from family issues and alleged failure to pay loans.

He says a fortnight ago Basobora (now deceased) took rat poison attempting to end his life but was rescued.

Omuhereza Tibesigwa asked the general public to always seek guidance from their relatives or leaders before committing such gruesome acts.

By press time, our efforts to get a police comment on the tragedy were futile.

However the body of the deceased was taken by relatives to the ancestral home in Nyanseke, Muhorro Sub County for burial.

This is the second suicide case committed in Muhorro town council in a week period.

On Saturday 30,Nov,2024, John Sunday aged 37 years a resident of Kijojo cell in Nyamiti ward,Muhorro town council also hanged self-dead over unknown reasons.
