285M EMBEZZLEMENT SCANDAL AT BUSHENYI ISHAKA MUNICIPALITY ,SPECIAL AUDIT TO BEGIN TOMORROW 25TH MAY 2020

Bushenyi Chief Administrative Officer Malik Mahab has directed his acting principal internal Auditor Samuel Kamwesiga to carry out a special audit at Bushenyi Ishaka municipal council on the alleged embezzlement of 194 m and 91 m totaling to 285 m.
The special audit comes as a result of a request by the Bushenyi Crime Intelligence and Investigations Directorate CIID to the CAO asking him to direct his staff in the audit department to investigate and audit 285M, that was allegedly swindled by the treasurer Jackson Muhwezi Beyendeza.
The CAO immediately wrote to the acting principal internal auditor to commence a special audit on Monday 25th May 2020 and hand over his report on 29th May 2020.
The letter which www.mknewslink.com has copy of ,was written on 21st May 2020,to the acting principal internal auditor Samuel Kamwesiga directing him to audit financial year 2019/2020 1st quarter the 194 million which was advanced to Bushenyi municipal council by the ministry of finance.
The CAO went ahead to direct the auditor to also carry out an audit on 91 million allegedly embezzled in financial year 2014/15.
The CAO wrote to his acting principal auditor quoting two cases that were opened against Beyendeza with references CRB404/2020,CEF002/2020
Beyendeza was arrested on 12th May 2020 from his home in Mazinga then taken to Police custody.
He was later taken back to his home for search on 13th May 2020 which the police did successfully before bringing him back to police cells. He was however bonded by police on 18th May 2020.
He was on Saturday 15th May 2020 taken to his office for a thorough search and according to CID officer whose name has been withheld because he is not allowed to talk to the media , they discovered vital information leading them to another case.
On the other hand, police in its investigations established that Beyendeza used to forge signatures of town clerks and heads of departments to withdraw money for his personal programs.
A source from CID also told www.mknewslink.com that Beyendeza admitted to have been forging signatures of town clerks and heads of departments since 2014.
He used to work from Monday to Sunday and he had even refused to take annual leave for about 10 years but was forced to take leave last year .
