GOVERNMENT VEHICLE KILLS PEDESTRIAN IN KABALE

A 25-year-old pedestrian was yesterday night knocked dead by a speeding vehicle belong to Rubanda District Local Government, on Kabale’s Main Street.
Isaac Ainebyoona was on Sunday night at 8.30Pm knocked by a speeding Ford Ranger double cabin registration number LG 0001-156 belonging to Rubanda District.
The accident happened near Bank of Uganda offices along Kabale-Kisoro road.
Area Police spokesman Elly Maate says the speeding vehicle that was being driven by a yet to be identified driver, knocked Ainebyoona who was trying to cross the road, and killed him instantly.
Maate says the driver tried to escape with the same vehicle but ended up overturning it about 500meters from the scene, after hitting a pavement.
“Police visited the scene, the ill-fated vehicle was towed and parked in Kabale police yard and the body taken to Kabale referral hospital mortuary pending postmortem,” Maate said.
“We are now hunting for the driver who ran away after causing the accident.”
