3000 SCHOLARSHIPS; MP MAWANDA SCORES HIGHLY IN EDUCATION

The Member of Parliament for Igara East Michael Mawanda Maranga has scored highly in education in his constituency by offering 3000 scholarships to secondary, post primary, universities and other tertiary institutions students

Mawanda revealed this today during the launch of Kabushaho seed secondary School in Bumbaire sub county Bushenyi district.

He noted that he reinstated Kabushaho in 2011 after it was closed by the then minister of education AmanyaMushega in 1991.

He added that he also started four secondary schools at once; Mungonya SS, Mwengura SS, Keinamo SS and Ruhumuro SS.

Mawanda revealed that the government has so far taken over two out of the 5 and Mungonya SS will be taken over in the next financial year.

According to Mawanda, when he took over the constituency in 2011, he prioritized education having realized that for any transformation, education had to be put first.

The reason as to why he has given 3000 scholarships to students who are now doctors, engineers, and teachers is because he wanted to fulfill his pledge.

Mawanda has not only concentrated on education but also other sectors such as agriculture, roads, community development.
