4 BROTHERS IN RUKIGA ARRESTED ON ALLEGATIONS OF ASSAULTING THEIR SISTER TO DEATH OVER LAND

The territorial police of Rukiga have in custody four suspects of the same family alleged to have assaulted their sister to death.
The Kigezi Region police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate identified the suspects as Innocent Tumwekwase, Justus Mayumba, Samuel Atuhirwe, and Christopher Bikorwomuhangi all of Rwenderema cell Ibumba parish Rwamucucu sub county who allegedly assaulted their sister aged 41 Christine Kiconco of the same address.
It’s alleged that the family of the deceased has been having domestic issues originating from land that was divided to the children by their father identified as Selestino Byaruhanga.
Maate said that when their father divided land to them, the boys immediately sold off their shares and started claiming the part which was given to girls and since then they have been threatening to kill the deceased.
The spokesperson for Kigezi said that on 24/03/2023, it’s further alleged that the deceased went to the bar and returned home at about 8:00pm in the evening while drunk.
Maate said that, she made a lot of noise abusing the brothers for having sold off their share of land that was given to them by their father and that it has always been her common character whenever she’s drunk.
It was out of such, that her father instructed her to move out and sleep in the boy’s quarters from where she kept making more noise till she slept off.
Yesterday 25/3/2023, in the morning hours, while deceased father was still sleeping, his son Innocent Tumwekwase and daughter in-law Charity Bahimbisomwe went and told him that her daughter was dead from the compound.
He immediately woke up and confirmed the same, he reported the matter to police which responded.
Scene was visited by the DPC and team, processed and documented, a police sniffer dog was introduced to the scene and led them to the suspect homes hence arrested.
Postmortem was done and some valuable exhibits recovered while Inquiries still continue.
The Police Spokesperson notes that Case of murder was registered at Rukiga police station under reference number CRB 154/2023.
