50 ARRESTED KASESE ROYAL GUARDS TRANSFERRED TO ANKOLE DISTRICTS POLICE CELLS

Security officials have transferred over fifty people arrested during
the Rwenzururu palace raid to several detention Centre’s within Ankole
region.
Information obtained by journalists indicate that the suspects were
transferred last night to Bushenyi, Ibanda and Mbarara police stations
to ease investigations.
A senior police officer on condition of anonymity told www.mknewslink.com reporter
that security felt it necessary to have them transferred because it is
a risk to keep them in Kasese district.
Thirty five of them who include five women were taken to Mbarara
central police station while twenty others were rushed to Ibanda
police detention center and unspecified numbers of other Rwenzururu
Kingdom suspects have been detained at Bushenyi police station.
Army and police raided the Rwenzururu Palace in Kasese town after King
Charles Wesley Mumbere refused to disband his royal guards who are
believed to be part of a militia allegedly agitating for the creation
of an independent Yira state
During the raid which left over forty royal guards dead, Police
arrested the King now incarcerated at Nalufenya detention facility in
Jinja district.
