Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed that 50 Rwandan nationals and 19 Congolese citizens were intercepted at Kabale Bus Park aboard buses on route to Bunyoro region.
Maate said that 13 foreigners were intercepted on January 4th 2020, while 56 were yesterday morning picked from the bus stop as they proceeded to Bunyoro.
Maate said that the foreigners who included some women claimed that they were going to Bunyoro to look for causal jobs.
“We shall not allow and tolerate these acts of free entry and exit as if we don’t have policies in the country,” Maate said.
Maate said that a case of illegal entry has been preferred against them and will be produced in court to answer charges accordingly.
The case was registered at Kabale Police Station under reference number CRB 025/2021 to help in prosecuting them.
