Police have arrested six staff of Budongo Seed School in Nyantonzi Sub County, Masindi district over the theft of the school’s computers.
Those arrested include the Laboratory attendant, ICT controller, person in Charge of school keys, Deputy academic teacher, Secretary and the gatekeeper.
Their arrest today afternoon follows the theft of 16 computers from the school’s ICT Laboratory by unknown people last night.
According to Sunday Eyotu, the chairperson Nyantonzi Sub county, the theft was out of negligence or connivance by some school staff who were on duty with the thieves.
Eyotu explains that preliminary findings show that the doors to the computer laboratory were not locked last evening, aiding the thieves to access the room and steal the computers from there.
He adds Eyotu that police sniffer dogs that were later deployed to track the thieves lost the track after moving for one kilometer from the school.
The politician appealed to the government to reinforce security in all government installations to avoid similar occurrences.
He also urged the community members to be more vigilant and report to authority the people involved in vandalizing or stealing government property.
The Masindi District Police Commander, Jacob Chepskori confirmed the incident revealing he had dispatched a team of police officers to the scene to investigate the matter, promising to divulge the details later.
