62 YEAR OLD ARRESTED IN SHEEMA FOR STRANGLING SON TO DEATH

Police in Sheema district are holding a 62-year-old man for strangling his 4 year old son to death.
George Bangirana a resident of Rwemizunzu village Nyarweshama Sheema district reportedly confessed to strangling his 4-year-old son Isaaka Michael before dumping his body into a pit.
SP Martial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson told this reporter that the suspect produced a child outside marriage with Jackline Ainomugisha .
He further revealed that Ainomugisha handed the child to the father in Feb. 2022 but the child had to stay with his uncle since the father couldn’t take good care of him.
He added that on 20th August the child went to play with other children at the father’s place but disappeared only for residents to discover that he was last seen with his father on the evening of 20th.
A case of child disappearance was opened on 22nd August but the suspect also disappeared on the same day only to be discovered in a swamp fighting for his life having taken poison.
SP Tumusiime said when asked about the son’s whereabouts, the suspect confessed to strangling him and dumping in a pit
He later led police to the pit where the body of the child was recovered .
Marcial Tumusiime says police recorded statements from witnesses and conveyed body of the deceased to Kabwohe health center IV,

The suspect is currently in cells as inquiries are ongoing under CRB 607/2022 .
