In Rubanda—
Residents of Karambazi village, Bubare town council in Rubanda district are in shock following the death of 7-year-old Byamukama Ian Dan, a son to Byamukama Denis of the same village.
The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at Nyakahita village, Kyanamira Sub County in Kabale district, where the victim was staying with the grandmother.
It is alleged that the grandmother had gone to church leaving the two young children in the house alone. However, the deceased left the other child and wandered into a water pond which was dag to get soil to make bricks, about 100meters away from the home.
It was until the grand mother came back home at around 16;00 hours that she realized the child was missing and started searching for him. They later established that he had drowned.
They informed the father and police were notified accordingly.
IP Elly Maate the PRO Kigezi told www.mknewslink.com that Police visited the scene and retrieved the body on Sunday night.
It was then conveyed to Kabale referral hospital mortuary and postmortem done on Monday morning. The body was then handed over to relatives for burial.
Maate advised Parents/guardians to always be within reach of young ones and monitor them 24/7, instead of leaving them alone which endangers their lives.
