70-YEAR-OLD MAN MURDERED IN RUBANDA DISTRICT

Police in Rubanda District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 70 years old man identified as David Baryayanga a resident of Kakangaga village, in Kaara Parish in Muko Sub County.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists yesterday that the incident happened on Friday while the deceased was in a bar drinking, developed a quarrel with Byansi Brian alias Kadiji that led to a fight, but other drinkers stopped them.
The deceased was then escorted home by about 3 of his colleagues, but as they were going back, they heard him make an alarm that Kadiji was killing him.
They went back only to find him seriously injured on the head and he insisted that he would go to the hospital in the morning but by morning he was found in a critical condition and before he could be moved to the Health Center for medical attention he eventually died.
Maate said that Police was notified by Mujuni Bathelemau the area LC 1 chairperson and the scene was visited by a team led by the DPC Barugahare Abel and postmortem examination was done and Byansi was arrested to help in investigations.
A case of murder was registered at Rubanda Central Police Station under reference number CRB 096/2023 to help make a follow up of the case
