Parish councilors nominees in Kibale district yesterday failed to correctly utter English words while taking the Oath of Allegiance at Kibaale grade one magistrate’s court.
It was a requirement for councilors to appear before the grade one magistrate Margaret Wagana before they could be confirmed for nominations to participate in the forthcoming polls for the new administrative units in Kibaale.
Wagana presided over the Oath of Allegiance to establish if the contestants understood what is entailed on the nomination forms as obligated.
Most of the candidates who failed to read as well as correctly utter the words in English while taking the oath were parish coucillors
Those who fidgeted with the words were contestants of Rwamagando and Bukonda Parishes in Kabasekende Sub-county, Kiyanja Parish in Kyebando Sub-county and Bwamiramira Sub-county among others.
However the magistrate confirmed the allegiance after the contestants were guided and helped by the court clerk who interpreted the oath for them in Runyoro/ Rutooro.
